Very disappointing experience. I had booked a table for 2 for 3pm and it was our first visit, I was looking forward to it having read some glowing reviews. We we were seated on a cramped table packed in with lots of people even though half the restaurant was empty. Lots of screaming children. I asked if we could move and was told no. The way the tables are laid out meant I had the back of a large chap who kept ruffling his hair inches away from the table which wasn’t particularly appetising. The table was sticky. I only realised there was a salad bar from reading some reviews, we weren’t informed about it at the time.
We wanted to start with a cocktail so ordered these whilst perusing the menu. We then ordered food which arrived after a time and still no drinks. When they did turn up the waiter spilled some over the table and the sides. No offer of a replacement. The macaroni cheese and broccoli gratin were inedible, rock hard and stone cold. Brazilian rice was just microwaved vegetable rice. I could analyse every dish but essentially everything was just poor quality. The meat which proved quite elusive was similarly lacking. Pork and Parmesan was dry and salty. The beef was really chewy. We never saw anything else including the grilled pineapple that I had been looking forward to. We ordered some desserts which never materialised but I wasn’t too disappointed as they were coming out in small paper cups, more suitable to a kids party.
Service was erratic, I had to keep trying to get peoples attention. We gave up and asked for the bill. £50 for 2 with drinks seems reasonable but the price quality ratio is way off. It is a similar experience to eating at a Harvester. Would...
Read moreThis was a fantastic first experience for us! Our interest in this style of restaurant was sparked by an episode of "Travel Man" set in Rio, and Casa Brazil is the perfect UK equivalent.
We visited on a Friday for the all-you-can-eat BBQ lunch, which was a special birthday treat for me. At around £23 per person, it felt like excellent value for such a wonderful occasion.
The restaurant's furnishings were lovely, and we were able to choose a two-person table with a beautiful view of the marina and the South Downs.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. A friendly server showed us to our table, and the staff who brought the meat to us throughout the meal were all so attentive.
The "all-you-can-eat" concept is fantastic and includes a brilliant salad bar with a huge selection that goes far beyond your typical offerings. However, the star of the show is definitely the BBQ meats.
The traffic light system is a clever way to manage the flow—a green card signals for the servers to bring more meat, while a red card means you need a break! We were quickly overwhelmed by the delicious cuts of pork, turkey, chicken, sausage, and beef, all with unique and amazing flavours. A must-try is the cinnamon pineapple, which sounds strange but is surprisingly delicious and a perfect palate cleanser. And the feast doesn't end there! The dessert bar had a great selection of fresh fruit and different treats. Everything I tried was amazing.
Overall, it was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend to anyone living near a Casa Brazil. A...
Read moreWe had a lovely experience here on a sunny evening. The staff were friendly and attentive, and even though we hadn't booked, they quickly set up an outside table for us.
The Brazilian-style dining, with food served from skewers brought to your table by waiters, was a fun experience. The red and green card system to signal when you want more food works well, although we did have to wave down the waiters a couple of times as they occasionally missed our table. Perhaps a more visible system, like coloured blocks, would be more efficient.
Despite this minor hiccup, the food was delicious, with a wide variety of meats to try, including some more adventurous options like kangaroo, chicken hearts under variety of beef and pork! The price was moderate – our meal for two with a bottle of crisp sparkling wine came to around £78, which is fairly standard for Portsmouth. While you can certainly find cheaper options, the quality and experience here make it worthwhile.
I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. My only word of caution would be that the atmosphere is perhaps more suited to adults. While older children would likely enjoy the food and the lively atmosphere, I noticed that the one table with young children on a busy Saturday night seemed a little out of place, and the noise from their children did disrupt the otherwise pleasant dining experience for the other guests. So, if you're looking for a family meal out, it might be best to consider other options.
If you're looking for a fun and unique dining experience in Portsmouth, I definitely recommend giving...
