Terrible terrible terrible !!!
Where do I start. Well me and my best friend decided we'd have breakfast here on Tuesday and all was well. We walked in via the main door on the ground floor clearly labelled in. We headed upstairs, read the do's and don'ts list. And decided where to sit. We sat on the balcony and cleared off the last customers breakfast because most tables were full of leftovers etc. After about 15 minutes we finally got the attention of a young lady member of staff and asked if she could take our order.
She said she couldn't but she would go and grab someone who could, another 10 minutes pass and it's not busy so when I see a guy come out with drinks I get his attention and ask if we can order. This is where it all went south massively.
First of all he said "well it looks like you eaten already" because we had lots of plates etc on the table. We no that was here already. He went made. Now I get that after someone's left the table needs cleaning but we had waited for a while and nothing so we sat.
Then he rudely said we were idiots and shouldn't of sat down at a table like this. Most tables were like this.....
Once he cleaned the table we ordered and he moaned again "can't you use the app ??" I said no because I only had cash.....
Well this made he super mad now. "So because your paying cash that means I have to do 4 x the amount of walking than I need too"
He finally took our order and at this point I was finding it harder and harder to bite my tongue and not start having a meltdown like he was clearly having.
We both felt like naughty kids getting told off and I've never ever been spoken to like that by any member of staff at a weatherspoons and always thought the staff were amazing........well clearly I was wrong.
Needless to sat it ruined our experience we won't be back...
Read moreWe returned on a Brittany Ferries trip from Bilbao late Wednesday evening into Portsmouth and had been advised that we could stay overnight at the Port Solent Marina in our motorhome. We were very grateful to the Port authorities as we were literally last off the ferry and were tired. The marina was lovely and the thought of a cold beer and some food was so welcome, so we decided to try The Sir Alec Rose as the were still serving food at 10.30 pm. The beer was really good and the staff could not have been more welcoming. But the food?!! Strap in. We ordered two steaks with chips, the steaks being medium to well done. What arrived with a smile and a flourish was inedible. The chips were probably previously cooked and then reheated, almost certainly the worst chips ever. And the steaks were so tough and more than a tad cremated. They reminded us of Charlie Chaplin's 1925 film, The Gold Rush in which starving Charlie eats his boots as he is desperate for food. The helpful staff member came to politely ask with a smile on his face if we were enjoying our meal. When he received our polite, but firm reply that it was not edible he looked genuinely shocked that such tasty plates were being criticised. Positive to the end though he toddled off to consult whoever and offered us some fresh chips and two glasses of wine. No steak though. So we ate the chips, glues the steaks to the soles of our shoes, drank the generous amount of wine and fell asleep immediately on getting back into the motorhome. Sir Alec may have spun a bit...
Read moreVery disappointed. Went for a family meal and couple of days ago to which we were happy to get out and go somewhere that has a price range for us. So there were 3 bbq ribs ordered, which normally come with a rack of ribs, chips, onions ring and coleslaw. By the time the food got to the table, 2 of the plates of ribs were stone cold, so we ask politely for them to be warmed up in the microwave, which normally takes a few minutes. We also didn’t receive onion on any of the 3 plates we had. We were happy for them to grab them and carry on with our food, we got given our onion rings but unfortunately, we didn’t receive our ribs. So we waited about 10/15 minutes and nothing came out still. By this point all of us had finished our ‘meals’ and had enough. The excuse for the ribs not making a return back to us was because the staff were distracted. It is understandable to be distracted, but not when it’s half our meal missing! We wanted a refund because we weren’t happy with the service or the food, but we were refused a refund for all of the food and were only allowed puddings instead. I could see the staff talking about us by the other side of the pub! If a staff member has a problem, go into the staff room, have a couple of minutes to calm down and carry on with whatever the issue is. Me and my family couldn’t have been more polite to the staff but unfortunately we were not treated the same in return. By this point we were all getting irritated and just wanted to leave. Would NOT return. Very...
