Zizzi - Port Solent — Restaurant in Portsmouth

We came here to celebrate a really special day & had a really rubbish evening. On arrival, we waited 10 minutes to be seen & seated (fine, happy to wait for that). However, it took 30+ minutes for anyone to come and take a drink order and at that point we ordered our starters and mains too which is fine we knew what we were having. Drinks (3 soft drinks, one cocktail) took another 30 minutes to arrive and once our starters came out which took awhile, (they forgot to bring out the pasta crisps we had ordered so had to remind them of that) we finished those and then received our mains. It took about an hour for anyone to come back, and when receiving our mains we made another drink order that we never received within this hour. The only reason a member of staff came over is because I started to get myself and my children ready to leave as I was sick of waiting, so we got the bill & headed next door to Wetherspoons for drinks & dessert where service was quick and didn’t feel forgotten about. When we paid the bill at Zizzi, they tried to bill us for the second round of drinks we never received so we had to ask for it to be taken off the bill. We were told on arrival they were short staffed, maybe they should’ve said they are going to make us wait a few hours and we would have gone elsewhere. However, Zizzi if you are that short staffed and are struggling to get to your customers who have come out to the restaurant then why are you still accepting Deliveroo & JustEat orders? I’m seeing staff sort those orders out and meanwhile, we never received more than one drink! It’s awful & we won’t be going there again. There was a table of 21 people and this was delaying all other table's orders because they decided to prioritise this table over everyone else! 13:10 ordered food (drinks, starters and mains) 13:40 kids starter brought in 14:00 asked for kid's main (simple penne tomato pasta) and 2 adult starters - they said it was about to come out 14:15 2 adult starters arrived and asked again for kids main- they said it was about to come out 14:30 when asked for mains, especially the kid's they said "well you ordered starters AND we have a table of 21 people so there's not much we can do" I explained the kid needs to eat and all they ate was small piece of bread from the kids menu. Explained other tables arrived after us and are getting the food before us. Asked if just because 1 table of 21 people are being served the whole rest of the customers won't eat? and they said sorry but food still didn't arrived. 14:35 After over 1h where other tables were being prioritised and the kid still didn't eat anything we decided to leave. Just when we were leaving the offered to put the kids pasta in a container for take away - half the pasta was hard and undercooked.....

Overall? if you want to eat here, ensure that they don't have ONE big table, otherwise it will take hours to eat your starters and even more to eat your main. All customers should be prioritised, the whole inside of the restaurant was empty, the outside was half full and furthermore the overall restaurant capacity surely is over 21 people so not sure how can the kitchen not manage other orders at the same time as...

Thursday 27th October 2022 7pm Our friends arranged a get together and suggested here, never been before but we like Italian food so win win, me and my husband arrived a little bit earlier than our friends and before our time, but we were warmly greeted and shown to our table, asked straight away if we would like a drink got those pretty quickly then our friends arrived. We ordered dinner and while we were chatting with our friends it didn't take long to arrive, looked great, smelled great couldn't wait to dig in our friends had extra parmasan cheese on theirs which the server does at the table I liked that. Dinner was fantastic tasted so good, the server warned us about the plates being really hot and they had a sticker to remind us I like that touch (pun intended). After dinner which wasn't rushed, we ordered pudding and more drinks our server was very attentive, puddings looked great, smelled good, tasted so good. Reasonable prices for what you get. Service was impeccable, we chatted with our server he was nice, kind, funny. Facilities was clean and easy accessible. All on one level which I like coz me and stairs are not a happy combo.
