The kids menu was only available up to age 10 (our son is 12 and also fussy). There wasn't much on the main menu for him to choose from, not even a pasta dish or a pizza! He opted for the chicken dish which came with peas and green beans and sage & onion chips. We had to change the chips for plain at the time of ordering as he just likes plain stuff and ommitted the veg as he wouldn't eat it (not even sweetcorn as an alternative - off the cob). The chicken had quite a peppery coating on it so he only ate half of it. It would have been nice to just have the option of a simple rotisserie chicken and chips for kids on your menu as it would have been easy to order! Pretty much all your dishes were with chips in some form or a jacket potato. The one dish I wanted, as I could have it with rice, wasn't available which was disappointing. Our server was lovely but when it came to getting us dessert menu, she got caught up with other things and we were then forgotten about. After 15-20 minutes, we decided to just ask for the bill and leave. The salad bar is nowhere near as good as it used to be either. Barely anything to choose from and the potato salad tasted as though the dressing on it was off, it wasn't pleasant at all and certainly not how I remembered it being (you used to have a lovely pasta salad in the bar with a pesto dressing, it was gorgeous). We also had a complimentary drinks voucher for signing up to the app, which we made the server aware of when we ordered our drinks and this was initially ommitted from the final bill, so it had to be re-calculated. We were a bit disappointed and probably wouldn't venture here again for a long time, if at all, based on the menu and the disappointing salad bar. Staff were lovely, food was hot, but not our finest meal for one...
Read moreOrdered rocky horror and got a fudge cake in a Rocky horror bowl with ice cream and cream. As soon as it came out au showed my husband and said it looked like a chocolate cake, Had 2 mouthfuls when I knew it was 100% a slice of fudge cake. I politely asked if it could be removed from the bill as it was wrong and we didn’t have the time to wait for another one to be made with the children starting to get itchy feet. The waitress Kay and team supervisor Caitlin argued at me in front of my children telling me I was wrong. I have never been humiliated and made to feel so little in any restaraunt. Clearly they need customer service training. The supervisor even slammed the pdq machine on the table walked off and said “I’ll leave the card machine there for you to pay your own bill!!” I was then left holding the pdq machine stood by the till and ignored by both the waitress and supervisor for 15mins. Absolutely disgusting. Id like to add I was not asking for a free meal, I was just asking for the rocky horror to be taken off the bill as it was WRONG! The way I was made to feel and was treated anyone else would’ve walked out in anger, instead I was stood there waiting patiently with a card reader in my hand! It comes to something when as we walked out my 5yr old daughter asked why the 2 ladies in the restaraunt were being mean to mummy and daddy! She then started to cry!!- Thanks for that!!!
Chris however, was absolutely fantastic- joking with the children, saying “Tadaa!” To tables with kids, asking children if they could catch their meals- absolutely amazing service. Maybe Kay & Caitlin need to watch the way Chris serves customers and have some training from him....
Read moreOutstanding Service from Kay at Harvester Port Solent Me and my Wife recently dined at Harvester in Port Solent, and Kay, our waitress, truly made the experience unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with a warm smile and an upbeat attitude that immediately set the tone for a great evening.
Kay was incredibly attentive throughout our visit, striking the perfect balance between being helpful and giving us space to enjoy our meal. She took the time to ensure our drinks and food arrived promptly, and even when the restaurant got busier, her energy and focus never wavered.
What really impressed us was her attention to detail. She noticed we were celebrating a special occasion and made the effort to make it feel even more memorable. She also gave thoughtful recommendations when we were undecided on what to order, and everything she suggested was spot on.
Kay’s cheerful demeanor and genuine interest in making sure we had a great time set her apart. She was proactive in checking on us without us having to ask, and she made us feel like valued customers rather than just another table.
Overall, the food was fantastic, but it was Kay’s exceptional service that truly stood out and made our visit so enjoyable. She’s an absolute credit to the Harvester team, and we’ll definitely be returning soon, hoping to have her as our...
