Absolutely awful!! Just to put into context, I’ve had many a mozzarella, tomato & pesto sandwich in all types of bread as it’s a pretty standard combo so I do know how a good one or at least a fairly acceptable one would taste. This was so soggy & oily that I couldn’t pick it up so started using a knife & fork. They advertise the bread as ciabatta but it’s more a panini type bread but this isn’t the issue - the mozzarella was cheap & nasty , pesto barely detectable due to being cheap and tasteless & tomatoes again just cheap & watery which is why it was all just a soggy mess. The bread was not toasted properly so it ended up completely inedible. Only thing I could eat was the few crisps & a bit of side salad that had a very weird vibrant orange sauce on it. As the waitress was passing I showed her my sandwich & she did not accept that there was anything wrong with it so I told her to just take my plate. On paying the bill, she took off £2.50. I worked out after I’d left that cheekily there was service charge put on my bill (even though you wait for ages to order, and go to the counter to pay yourself) so basically she just took off the service charge and I paid full price for that sandwich so my visit was £10 for a coffee. Toilets are outside at the back and dirty. Terrible food, terrible place and terrible customer service. I have written many reviews on cafes mostly all 4 & 5* , so have written this review to warn people to go elsewhere if you prefer decent food with decent...
Read moreBit of a mixed review, much like the service. The essentials: The food we had was very nice, good quality and very good value (£5.25 for a vegetarian breakfast INC coffee or tea, yes please!). The service was.. Odd. On the one hand, we were seated straight away and given a menu, all good so far, we were then asked if anyone else was joining us.. I'm not sure why. The menu choice consisted of 3 breakfast items so, somewhat limited. I have an intolerance and this was also... Oddly received. If you don't have an intolerance or allergy it might be hard to relate to, but it's a scary expertise eating out and it's vital that your server or chef folks you with confidence that they know about allegens, they know about what allegens are on their dishes and to make you feel safe that there weren't be any in your meal. Unfortunately that wasn't the case at Heath's.
The decor was very nice and set a good scene, there are about 5 tables iirc. Oh and coffee was lovely and they had soya milk available which did not curdle in the coffee (which can happen with non dairy milks).
Overall a good breakfast today with nice coffee and great value, but service does have a big impact on...
Read moreWhat a lovely family run tea room / Cafe, nice decor, friendly well respected staff, saw a little girl specially bring in a drawing for the obviously much loved owner. Great prices for extremely good quality food, a very healthy breakfast as hardly any fat used during cooking. For a very small price I upgraded to a hot chocolate with cream instead of having the tea or coffee included in the Breakfast price. Also get a proper milky milkshake, not that thick ice cream mix that a lot of places serve, can have cream on top if you want it. If you want nice crispy chips or Hash Brown just ask and that will be done for you. Open 7...
