Not wholly awful, but sensationally over rated. The quality of the food is lacking to say the least, the prices are however essentially reasonable and the main saving grace of this establishment is the locale. The view is stunning.
The staff aren't overly friendly or professional, there are very much exceptions to the rule and some genuinely lovely staff there but I've seen enough customers belittled to not mention this. Additionally I have myself been on the recieving end of, what in fairness is a predictable level of bitterness and malice.
My main gripe with Mick's Monster Burgers is the complete lack of healthy food. Not even that, more the complete lack of anything edible that won't as a matter of undeniable fact severely damage your health. Whenever I visit Portsdown hill for the wonderful vista that it offers I'm always disappointed by the fact that if I want to eat anything while I'm there, I'll have to be willing to bestow type two diabetes upon myself, clog my arteries, contribute to harming the environment and gain half a stone.
Finally there are no options for vegetarians or vegans other than just chips. There are dozen upon dozens of items on the menu and 99% contain meat or animal produce, typically both. I'd happily amend my rating to a 4/5 if the menu accommodated for people who are even in the least bit health conscious.
To conclude, the food is terrible, choices are slim outside of having a frankly dangerous amount of meat / dairy, prices are what you'd expect, staff don't believe in service with a smile but then how could you blame them and the view is the most breathtaking one you'll see for many...
Read moreIt amazes me that this place is still going. The food is sat with it's feet up in the 1980s. It is so long established that you wonder if some sort of nefarious backhanded hegemony with the council is going on (resplendent with cash filled envelopes pushed along a table) that would make a great plot for an intrigue thriller. Yet, putting fiction and imagination to one side for a moment. Mick's also holds a nostalgic reminiscence with the locals... Although a significant number of those memories are tinged by alcohol and cannabis in all likelihood, and as such, the taste buds of those times are most likely dulled. The location for motoring trade is prime, the location exceptional, parking relatively ample... but the food is greasy spoon level (at best), and you don't even want to know the quality of the meat (jest washed MSM slurry). Chips are half decent though to be fair. It's such a shame that this location is now seemingly a long established cartel of over priced, poor quality medicority, when it could be a real hub for an innovative, and passionate small fast...
Read moreDisgusting, nature takes a hit because of this small CONglomerate. It makes a natural space stink of GMO oil and there is always rubbish in the hedge lines and over the green in front. Makes me sad that MBurgers has made so much profit over the years, got to be at least 30 years and now people are in need of better food choices due to a nation of sick people they do not offer it. When it comes up for tender they can outbid anyone else offering smarter more healthier food. There is no responsibility in this company at all. It doesn’t do gluten free or any offerings to people that have specific food choices due to health and they only clear what is directly around them. People think the burgers taste good but really, it’s the view that makes them feel good while eating the burgers. Years ago I had a stone in mine and I’ve never gone back. They use GMO which is slowly killing peoples off. They need to donate some of their profits to QA hospital. Delivering this much unhealthy food comes at a sever price...
