Hesketh's Arms — Restaurant in Preston

I went with my mum after Christmas for tea. We hadn't been for at least 4 years because the last couple of times we went, the food was absolutely awful.

It's a real shame because we used to go every couple of weeks for tea when the children were younger.

Anyway, it has been recently refurbished and it is really lovely inside. Rustic & contemporary decor throughout with friendly staff.

My mum ordered a medium rare sirloin steak with chips. To my pleasant surprise it was near perfect. The chips were good quality and hot.

I had hunters chicken and jacket potato. Again, very good and clean quality.

The pudding was also good quality and a fair size.

We are looking forward to their steak and curry nights. I just hope they keep this standard up.

My only reservation is the load swearing customers on the other side in the pub but that's the area I guess. Also, there was what seemed to be a 7 - 8 year old boy sitting against the bar on a stool with his mum interacting with the bar staff. Surely this is not legal? Even if it is, it just doesn't look professional or...

I popped into The Hesketh Arms recently and was genuinely impressed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The new landlady and her team have clearly poured passion into reviving this classic local spot — it’s clean, lively, and full of character.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the drinks selection was spot on. I only planned to stay for one, but the vibe was so good I ended up staying for a few! The outdoor seating area is spacious and well-kept, and there’s a great pool table and dartboard for a bit of fun.

What really stood out is how well-suited the pub is for hosting events — whether it’s a birthday, quiz night, or live music, the layout and atmosphere make it ideal. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a venue with charm and great service.

Came in and ordered garlic mushrooms, mixed grill and brunch and requested food all came together. Garlic mushrooms was brought out on there own by a member of staff in a hoodie and leggings, once finished our mains was served to us again by the same member of staff in a hoodie, both meals was missing grilled tomatoes and the mixed grill had no onion rings, we then pointed this out for the member of staff to go tell the chef who was also dressed in her own clothes, we got served our missing onion rings then had to ask again for the tomatoes. We then found 2 hairs in the mixed grilled raised this to the member of the staff in the hoodie who then approached who I presume to be the manager, who then took the food away we got no apology of anyone, they didn't even come back over to the table just waiting for us to leave, rude staff and I think they need to invest in a uniform and get...
