I was on the park taking a walk with my young daughter, we seen families were arriving at the cafe and leaving with ice creams for their children . My daughter asked for an ice cream so I said yes of course . We entered the back door where the ice creams were being served . A man who was quite rude said we’ve stopped serving ice cream now ! While there was a group of young children picking their flavours . My daughter didn’t understand and became upset , so I asked why are you still serving ice cream to these group of children but you won’t serve my daughter you can see she is quite upset ! He carried on in a rude manor that the cafe will be closing at 4pm in 15 minutes time. I replied by saying you are still open for another 15 minutes then , I don’t see the issue in you serving 1 extra child an ice cream who is quite upset now . He continued to say that he can’t be stood serving ice cream he wanted to be out by 4pm! I was in complete shock as it was only 3.45pm . So we walked away and I tried to reassure my daughter it wasn’t her fault . The whole time other children was still deciding on what flavours they wanted and I could tell their parents felt uncomfortable . I decided to go for another walk round and about the park to distract my daughter and from seeing other children enjoying their ice creams . On returning around an hour later .. at 4.45pm there was still staff present although the premises was closed, my assumption is they had just finished cleaning etc ! Over all it was down to the mans personal decision not to serve us at 3.45pm ....
Read moreCalled in on Saturday 11th August after CLASSIC Car Show, large queue due to one staff member taking your order and payment. Simple order of two sandwiches and two coffees to be taken away as we had our dog with us that's not allowed into the cafe. Must have waited 20 minutes and then what a disapointment, we got two slices of nearly dry brown bread each, one covered just with grated cheese and the other with slices of processed packet ham, a side salad of limp not fresh salad. How much £5.45 each, plus £4.70 for the coffees, Total £15.60 I appreciate that all businesses have to make a profit but at least serve good quality fresh food. This cafe could be a showcase due to its setting and natural beauty of the surroundings but on this showing it is time for a total restructuring of the menu and pricing policy. Please visit other establishments and see the quality available before it is time too shut the door for...
Read moreThere were only cakes and crisps available when I went as they were short staffed. I just ordered tea. It looked very clean and the staff were polite. I don't know if it was an effect of the short staffing but considering the whole queue was people ordering drinks or a piece of cake, it took about 12 mins to get my tea, which I'd say is too long. Don't know if they have toilets inside as there seemed to be a (closed) toilet block outside. Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoors too, facing the river with nice views. The building sits well in the landscape too. Not somewhere I'd have lunch, but a drink and snack is fine. (I went on a Sunday and on the left hand side of Ribblesdale place entrance there was a very small takeaway tea/coffee/cake place with a smaller queue. On a busy day I'd go there...
