Vegetarian Indian food, savoury and sweet snacks available.
I’m vegan and stopped here for tea (dinner). There was free parking available around the back.
The vegan savoury options were delicious and the vegan sweet options were ok.
The staff were friendly and happy to help out explaining all vegan options available. There was plenty of choice and the price was extremely reasonable. I got a thali (tray) of 2 curries, a curry sauce, a rice and rotis. I also got a dal wada plus took one of each of the vegan sweets. Altogether, including £1 for takeaway it cost £8.40.
In my tray I opted for the chickpea curry which was ok, a cauliflower curry which was spicy and delicious, the pilau rice which was yummy and the curry sauce which was also nice. The rotis were good too. The dal wada was tasty and spicy too!
There were a lot more vegetarian choices sweet-wise than vegan, but still there were 6 vegan choices of sweets. I tried them all: Jalebi - tasty but greasy Kaju roll - nice but had silver on the outside and green in the middle which made me feel there were more chemicals and colourings than necessary but apart from that they were ok. Kaju katri, nice and texture of marzipan/icing taste slightly coconut-y, not too sweet. Bundi ladu extremely greasy! Fig and nut praline, ok but greasy. Wasn’t labelled, he said it was ‘kesar’. Similar to kaju katri. I wouldn’t get any of the sweet options again.
I would definitely recommend people to come here for savoury food! 5* rating for this.
There were plenty of tables if you...
Read moreI visited this establishment today with a friend of mine who has autism. I went in ahead of my friend and purchased a small box of treats for him I mentioned to the staff member that these where for my friend and that he may come inside to eat them but that he is very shy and might not want to the staff member said this was fine. Me and my friend came into the shop and went and sat right at the back out of everyone's way. We were sat down and about to eat when a staff member expressed concerns regarding the way my friend was presenting themselves (my friend has autism and finds everyday activities vey hard when anxious and in new places he tends to cover his face with his clothing) I tried to explain this to the staff member who responded with other customer wont want to eat in front of him and that its not a place for eating the sweets its take away only although there people clearly eating similar stuff. I will not be visiting this establishment again there attitude towards my friend who just wanted a treat was unacceptable and in 2018 every establishment should be completely accepting of all people regardless of any condition or disability they may suffer from. If I could give no stars I would but...
Read moreI'll start with the good. The service was fair, in that the waiter forgot my partners starter. Apart from that, everyone was friendly and efficient, especially the manager who took care to explain the menu and offer advice. Now the bad, the food was poor, it all looked very appetising, but I think we made a mistake in ordering specials. All the dishes including the Samoza Chat and the Gobi Manchurian were both stodgy, lacking differing textures and contained far too many spices and amounts, a total mishmash overkill, and then even further enriched with copious amounts of oil. A couple on the next table were visibly struggling with the Gobi Manchurian too. To be fair there were lots of curries available, kept hot on display. But I think there is the rub! Most Asian vegetarian foods can't be kept hot for any length of time, and must be freshly cooked at the point of order to eat well. And trays of foods stewing under heat for who knows how long are just not going to cut it. They did have lots of scrummy looking Indian sweets on offer that may be much...
