This is our first time to this restaurant so was not aware there are 3 separate shops on the same street. We went into the one that served peking food but reserved the one for cantonese food so its best to make sure you get in the right restaurant but they will ofcourse direct you.
We went at 6pm on Sunday so the restaurant was still quiet. This helped as there was only 1 main waitress and 2 other staff. All were very friendly. The ambience reminds me on the local HK restaurant so I liked it. However, some would find it maybe a bit old style and a bit sticky. If you are looking for nice decor, this is not your place. However, if you are looking for good food. I highly recommend it.
We ordered a range of dishes and they came out ever so quickly. The taste was there and it had the 'wok' flavour in the dishes. My favourite was their kai lan. While simple, it was flavoursome and cooked to perfection. We also had salt pepper squid, s&s pork, chilli chicken, lamb pot and noodles. Every dish was how I expected it from seeing the pictures and reading reviews. The only let down were the dumplings from dim sum menu.
Would I go back? Certainly. Would I recommend for having a tasty...
Read moreI've been for hotpot and Korean BBQ at Happy Panda twice now. On both occasions the offerings were absolutely fantastic. Being vegan, there were so many veggie and tofu options for both the hotpot and BBQ - and Jo even brought out some homemade vegan additions. If you like spice, the szechuan hotpot broth will blow your mind - it's as authentic as you can get, Jo told me she brings the peppercorns back from China!
My friends eat meat and they were truly spoilt on the BBQ front - we barely made it out the front door after such a feast.
If you haven't tried hotpot before, it's incredibly social and a lot of fun. The staff are on hand to provide assistance if you need a helping hand. It's one of the most fun and tasty Chinese dishes - go and try it, you...
Read moreThis restaurant was decent, they have good generous portions and friendly service. I liked the salt and pepper chicken, steamed cake, black sesame balls. The Singapore noodles lacked depth initially, however when I asked for chilli oil it amplified the flavour and made the dish more enjoyable. I also ordered Thai bubble tea and felt that the tapioca pearls were slightly undercooked but this was possibly due to the ice, because the tapioca pearls in the black sesame balls broth were so good. The seafood crispy noodles was ok. Other than that, they offer hotpot which you have to order in advance since they prepare it fresh for you and they do great dim sum, so I...
