The University of Reading is one of the British universities in Reading, Berkshire, which was founded in 1892. It is one of the well-established universities in the field of research, education and training at all local, national and international levels. The university was awarded the Queen's Annual Award for Higher and Continuing Education in 1998 and 2005. It is one of the top ten research universities in the United Kingdom and among the top 200 universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education Annual Ranking in 2009.

A very big University, there are so many paths to walk, parks, lakes and ducks and it's very easy to reach the town centre of Reading. There are buses that go to the uni from the train station too and they don't take long. The Student Union building has a big hall and many restaurants and it even has a Korean store and bubble tea shop!! I came here to visit for few dance events and I always loved it! Later on I moved to Reading and although I didn't go to uni here, I would come just for the beautiful walks, buildings and relax spaces!

As universities go, Reading has a lovely campus that is quite nicely centralized. There are quite a few very well-regarded departments as well, such as Archaeology, Systems Engineering, Agriculture and Philosophy. Sadly, from the look of most of the building work here, the focus now seems to be on attracting students to easy, unfocused degree programmes with a view to raise a quick few pounds through the tuition fees. This would make it appear that things are on a decline, which is sad considering the fantastic research that goes on in departments across the board here. While on campus, be sure to check out the Harris Gardens. They are a lovely but well-hidden set of botanic gardens tucked away in a corner near the chemistry building. Hard to find, but well...

We visited the University of Reading last weekend on April 26, 2025 for an offer holder day. Our son wants to study mathematics. We were really impressed with the university. The staff was really great. They explained everything in a very professional way, and there were at least 15 students with whom we could talk and ask about their study experience. It was very interesting. The campus grounds are amazing with lots of sport facilities ! There are also several student restaurants on campus with a good choice of food. We visited other universities in the UK before, but this university impressed us the most ! Everybody was very professional, and also very friendly. As a parent one feels confident to send our son to...

I went here for a four day metrology taster course/ work experience, which was very useful, interesting and beneficial for me! Very funny and friendly staff in the department from the professors and staff to the students studying there.

The trip definitely sold reading to me as a uni choice! Great campus and wonderful atmosphere. Lucy (third/final year, maths degree) the student ambassador was very entertaining and sold the university to us very successfully. A credit to the university!

The facilities are very good and access to them seems excellent. Cafeteria is impressive and generally the whole university seems brilliant. A world class meteorology department with great links to the ECMWF and the atmospheric observatory...
