Nisou Reigate — Restaurant in Reigate and Banstead

We were supposed to be in Jersey for the weekend but due to poor weather our flights were cancelled so feeling a bit sorry for ourselves we booked a table for Dinner. I called Yia Yia’s around midday on the off chance they might have a table having never been before or even heard of them. Unfortunately the phone wasn’t answered but 10mins later I was called back with an apology for missing my call which I thought was great.

Again unfortunately they didn’t have any space that evening but promised to call me if anything changed and call back they did later that afternoon offering us a table for 6.30 which we gladly accepted.

And boy I’m glad we did, Yia Yia’s is a simple little restaurant, very basic but welcoming decor and amazing friendly staff. Feeling very authentic Cypriot vibes and with gentle soft Mediterranean music I felt transported. The staff were about as good as you could get explaining the simple menu, they were enthusiastic about the food all of which was fresh and made in house.

The food, again simple 3-4 main dishes on the menu but all done very well. Moussaka is one of my favourite Greek dishes and I’ve had it many time but this was exceptional and I could have eaten it twice over.

I highly recommend this sweet little restaurant, I look forward to them perhaps expanding the menu just slightly to incorporate some more of my favourite dishes but for now I look forward to...

I Came to Nisou today for the first time for my partners birthday as I had read lots of good reviews, however the experience me and my partner had was not great. They had a new menu which we was encouraged to try for 30 pounds pp and much to our surprise when the food came out it was not enough for 1 person let alone 2. The main on the menu was less than the starters with only one skewer of chicken with about 3 pieces of meat on it and the portion of chips was about 10 chips in total. We questioned the portion size and they said it was a small tapas menu even though it wasn’t advertised that way. The lady serving us was nice and she did try and make things a little better by giving us some cookies to come away with, but overall the experience was not great and we came away very unsatisfied. 60 pound wasted, and one very unsatisfied birthday boy. Extremely gutted as we heard some really good things and we don’t get to eat...

Vegan options available! Lovely service and drinks and food were simply delicious! We were offered a comfortable amount of times for water refreshments which never goes amiss. Could really tell there’s a lot of love for this place and in it. Noticed how kind and patient the staff were which is going above and beyond. A birthday party had been hosted during our visit and how they helped the more elderly guests out of the door down the rather steep steps! They also kindly offered and took a photograph of me and my family as we struggled with a group selfie. It meant a lot. Getting together is a treasured activity and this place is the perfect for it. Very calming place; emotionally and visually. Would definitely recommend/ revisit with someone new for the same warm experience :) visited myself form...
