Visited as a family of 4 on a Sunday afternoon. Booked online beforehand and was seated fairly quickly. My partner went to the bar to order when a rather rude waitress came over to my table and told me the table was actually reserved. She pointed at the reserve sign and told me I can't just walk in and sit where I want. I replied I had reserved online and another member of staff seated us at this table. To which she replied 'well these tables are hard to find especially on a sunday'. I'm not entirely sure what she meant but I shrugged it off and carried on.

All four of us 2 children and 2 adults ordered the carvery which was okay at best. My 8 year old daughter realised she had forgotten to put broccoli on her plate when she got back to the table. I told her to nip back and get some. She came back with a bright red face and on the verge of tears with no broccoli on her plate. A lovely lady sat near the carvery told me what had happened. The same waitress as mentioned above had told my 8 year old to go and sit back down and she isn't allowed to get any broccoli because it's 'not an all you can eat buffet'. This happened infront of everyone waiting in the carvery que and clearly left my daughter feeling humiliated.

Speaking to the waitress in question got us nowhere. She proceeded to tell me she couldn't get any more veg because all the food gets weighed at the end of the day. I told her it's exactly the same amount of food because my daughter would have added it to her plate had she not forgotten. She responded with 'there is nothing I can do'.

How utterly ridiculous after spending almost £100.

I'm appalled any waitress thinks it's acceptable to speak to any child in that manner. How humiliating for her.

Safe to say we will not be returning and certain staff members need lessons on how to respectfully speak to people...

First time visiting here. We decided to de-stress and take the dog to the Hollingworth Lake. When we arrived we decided to have some lunch before our walk. I decided to try the burger in the picture and told the barman this. My friend had the carvery and we both had soft drinks. This came to £29.23. I thought this was great value until the burger meal arrived. The carvery was delicious my friend informed me and was hot. My burger was the exact opposite. All of it was flat cold and the burger tasted frozen and was well overcooked. The chips that came with the meal were fries and again flat cold and hardly any. I think I must have paid for the novelty of having a hole in the top of my crusty roll as nothing was worth the £11.75 I paid for it. There were no prices on the soft drinks on the menu either.I tried to complain but there was no one around and the poor lad behind the bar was swamped with customers and he was on his own. I was told after ordering, for a table with no number that there was a 30-minute wait on anything other than the carvery. I had already paid by this point so said fine. Our first table was given to someone else when I went out to get my friend from the car even though I told the barman and he said that was our table. This burger meal was sadly lacking in every way and the kitchen must have been solely concentrating on the carvery and shocked when another order came in for something other than the carvery. Green King I found out is the company that owns this establishment and should be ashamed of themselves. I have tried other Green King establishments and if I had known this I would have gone to the pizzeria or chip shop...

Most of the tables which are wheel chair accessible are only big enough for 2 people. The dining areas for groups are up or down a level with no way of getting a wheelchair to those areas. We have turned up, the place is empty, went to find a seat next to the disabled toilet and there’s 2 tables set out both with reserved signs on, from previous visits it’s become apparent these signs are only placed there incase a big party comes in, surely if they’re not actually booked out then they’re available. We were left wondering around wondering where to sit to suit the wheelchair and my nanna. I asked a really helpful lady who sorted out a table(one of the reserved ones) her manager who she asked clearly wasn’t happy to help though. This is the second time now we’ve been treated as a nuisance, if it wasn’t for my nans love for the lake we wouldn’t bother at all.

I’d highly suggest considering the area that these 2 big tables are split out or moved to the other areas of the pub where people don’t have any issues with mobility.

It’s not appropriate to feel like a hassle just for her being disabled, they should be more accommodating if anything.

The food is great thankfully, so are most of the servers however this particular manager looks dejected, like he hates the place and customers even more so. If he’s not happy might I suggest he leave, even watching him with other customers it’s obviously he’s agitated with them and their needs.

It’s a shame but I think we’ll start going back to the hornet or the paper mill cause it’s not worth my nans upset feeling like she’s done something wrong just because she’s in...

Set in lovely surroundings with it's own pay and display car park, right besides the lake ,the Beach pub is a great place to pop into for a drink after a nice walk. It's a nice big pub with benches at the front and a beer garden to the rear. It's a family friendly pub with reasonably priced food menus for adults and one for the children. They even welcome dogs too who also have a little food menu which I think was a great idea. The staff were friendly and kept the tables cleared and clean. We decided to order food and both went for the garlic mushrooms to start, they were nice and crispy, not soggy and watery but unfortunately didn't come with salad or garlic mayo, they came with sour cream instead which we didn't really like. If you don't want the Carvery , there was a good selection of food on the menu but not really much choice for vegetarians. I opted for the fried halloumi. I've never had it before, it was nice but I found it a bit chewy. My friend went for the chicken curry, she said it was ok but said it tasted like a "ping and ding" type curry. She had to pay extra for the naan and when it came it looked like someone's left overs as it was a roughly torn half of a full piece. We were informed this is how it's served which I didn't think looked very nice, maybe if they used a knife instead of tearing it,it might look better. Overall , I think for the price it wasn't too bad . They had offers on drinks and shots daily and on Thurs-Sun it's BOGOF on certain drinks 7-closing. It is a nice pub with friendly staff, child and dog friendly and great prices. I recommend it.
