Been here a few times and never had an issue, today was no busier than we've experienced before but unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. We had three dogs between the three of us today, so chose to sit outside rather than inside. We were there a good 10 minutes before we could even order drinks and the waitress taking the drinks order said that food would be a 20 minute wait and she'd be right back to take the food order. The food order wasn't taken for another 10 minutes. In the meantime, the tables around us who seated after us had their orders taken. Eventually we got our food orders in. After another 40 minutes and the surrounding tables being served their food, we had to go in to ask how much longer we would be waiting and were getting ready to just pay for the drinks and leave. This seemed to spur them into motion and we were eventually brought the food, over an hour after our arrival. Luckily the food quality is good, but not good enough to make up for bad service. It felt like we had been completely overlooked even after going inside and asking how long it would take and there just seems to be no system for looking after your customers effectively. To be brutally honest, what happened today has really put a massive downer on what has been a favourite breakfast stop for us. I would also say that the prices are way too high, over £50 for 3 people to have breakfast and coffee that they waited over an hour for with little apology and not even the offer of a price reduction for the inconvenience. It's such a shame because we've had great experiences and been repeat customers for a while now. Sorry Olive and Pickle, the food is lovely but we won't be rushing back again or recommending you unless you are utterly empty, it's just not...
Read moreWe visited Hollingworth lake for the first time in ages. It’s really difficult finding somewhere that serves food for a coeliac. We spotted this little place and I sent my husband to ask if they offered gluten free foods. Myself and my son waited at the door whilst my husband carried our coeliac toddler. We was approached by a lady with blonde hair. My husband asked if they could do a portion of chips gluten free. She said yes. He asked about cross contamination and she advised that all gluten free was done separate. Our daughter was going to be the only one eating and the lady offered us take away which my husband agreed to. At the till he changed his mind and said actually can we eat in? The lady rudely replied saying “ just for one of you eating?” Shaking her head as no.. I wasn’t going to make this review but it’s been annoying me all week. If we had manage to sit down for our daughter to peacefully eat her chips, then we could of got a coffee and possibly a cake. The chips looked fine untill my daughter had eaten a few, then we noticed some breaded crumbs. Further in the box. Our Daughter has been poorly this week. I do not think the chips was done in a separate fryer like the lady had stated. I do think this seems like a money grabbing business- saying yes to gluten free just for the money and not caring about making a child ill. not wanting to seat us so they can seat someone who was going to spend more. (Even though we would of had a drink and maybe cake but we didn’t get this option).
Obviously we won’t ever...
Read moreI love this café and only get to go every so often and unfortunately the last time we went we did not have a very good time. The staff member that sat us down and greeted us was very nice and friendly however when it got to ordering our food, we were very disappointed. Everything that we tried to order was either not available or had been removed from the menu months ago, for example, the fish and chips - they had not served that for months however it was still on the menu. When we asked what was available the girl said everything but ... so we chose something else and low and behold, that too was not available. This went on for quite a while and numerous dishes were not available. By the end, the girl's attitude had gotten worse and as we finally found something that was available, her manager was giving us dirty looks. We wouldn't have minded and we understand that sometimes there are busy periods in the café however, before we sat down and spent half an hour debating what we could have, it would have been best to tell us what was and what wasn't available to us. For the rest of our time in the café, we watched people coming in and having the same problem to the point where one family tried to order something and like us, couldn't so they walked out. I don't want this to put us off coming back to the café however, it could have been better service and future reference, tell customers before they start to order, that half the menu is not available. I will try the café again before we completely...
