Charming little café with a lot to offer – but rigid on breakfast substitutions

We really enjoy visiting this lovely little café, especially on Sunday mornings before heading out for a walk with the kids. It has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the food is consistently tasty.

That said, one aspect that really surprised us was the strict no-substitutions policy on the breakfasts. I asked to swap tomatoes (which I don’t like) for extra mushrooms, but was told that wasn’t possible. Similarly, my daughter ordered a child’s breakfast and asked if she could have an egg instead of the sausage, as she’s not a meat eater — again, we were told no. These seem like reasonable, low-cost swaps, so it felt a bit inflexible and disappointing.

The staff member we spoke to came across as quite firm and a little abrupt when we asked about it, which added to the frustration. It’s unusual to come across a café that doesn’t allow for simple changes like these, especially when it affects how much of the meal we actually eat.

That aside, the quality of the food itself is very good, and we do like coming here. It would just be great to see a bit more flexibility to make the experience even better – and ensure customers feel they’re getting full value for...

A great lick of paint to a badly neglected honeypot; we needed a place to call base on this circuit, especially for large groups. I'll miss the old place, but it wasn't fit for purpose. Now, the Rspca run the ship and the kitchen steers the clientele. Wish that I could say the same of the floor team, a lovely bunch but except for the supervisor they were fumbling every other order, not on the ball, and didn't know their own menu! I had to correct the guy three times until they found the cake I asked for, clearly by name lol. A bit more polish on service, and you won't be serving large clumps of ice in your iced drinks either, oh dear... Other than those issues, and some till squabbling, its clean,...

First visit, no issues. Second visit with a friend who had'nt been before, not so good. Ordered a wrap, ate one half and we where both unsure on the taste of the wrap itself it was stale, very dry breaking apart, and smelled strange. Neither of us could eat the second half. Spoke to a lovely girl who tried to help but was advised there was nothing they could do as we had eaten some! We asked for slices of bread to change the wrap over to , it never came. Neither of us are complainers but we found it really disappointing when it could have so easily...
