Monsoon Rochford — Restaurant in Rochford

We fancied a Ruby Murray and rather than return to our usual near Potters (Hockey), we though we'd use Google's review scores to choose a different restaurant.

We were very disappointed with our food both the vegetable korma and chicken tikka madras had more water than anything else and having had the same madras dish in Brick Lane last week, I had something to compare it to. Madras is supposed to be fairly hot. Their interpretation was milder than Walker's Max crisps even though it had two chillies showing on the menu. The chicken was well cooked and tender. My peshwari (coconut) naan bread was nice.

We went in and ordered takeaway on a Sunday night. The restaurant was empty but we were instantly surrounded by about 5 staff as we entered the place. I think this must be part of the Indian culture, but it makes me feel uncomfortable.

However, the staff were very pleasant and friendly and insisted we took a seat while we waited. The food took no more than 20 minutes to arrive.

For what it was £38.45, additional water aside, I think it was overpriced. Brick Lane prices.

They have two parking bays out front, but Rochford has loads of parking places. Just watch the time as RDC have nothing better to do than apply...

Visited Thursday 13/10/22 at 19:00 with Colin & Mandi Hume who had suggested we go there. We had not been there before as I was not impressed by the outside view of the restaurant but what a surprise it was when we entered and sat at our table. There were only two other people at this time but it quicly started to fill up with people who seemed to be regulars. The table was spoless and menus very detailed and easy to use and they were also spotless! A very welcome change, the staff were very pleasant and attentive and I must say that this is the very best Indian restaurant that I have been in for many years. Excellent food, when they get the takeaway order right, which is not as often as we would like. This evening's customer service was disgusting. They got the dish wrong and instead of an apology, the guy on the phone argued with me. He insisted that we paid for a chicken tikka mosalla, when we ordered and paid for a prawn tikka mosalla and the price is quite different. Thankfully we ordered online and can show them an itemised bill when they deliver the correct dish. I told him this and was laughed at and still argued with. We won't be ordering for a while as I'm currently fuming at the attitude I received. Edit: the manager brought me the correct dish, and apologised for the mistake, it's understandable that mistakes happen but I'm not forgiving his staff...
