The Marlborough Head — Restaurant in Rochford

What a fantastic night at a truly great pub.On arrival the place was empty but the landlord made us very welcome and recommended us a place to eat as his kitchen was closed.We ordered a pint and engaged in conversation with the landlord.Before very long the place started filling up with what seemed to be locals.Each and everyone spoke to us and included us in their conversations and jokes.We left went to the recommended restaurant then returned to the pub to finish the night. This is a brilliant place ,great beers , very friendly manager and fantastic customers.Thanks everyone for a truly memorable night...

This is the kind of place that seems worse on reflection, even if it wasn't terrible at the time. My wife and I stopped here for a quick drink before a wedding.

I couldn't spot any local ales on tap, which is a shame. At least there's Guinness! My wife ordered a G&T, which came with a complimentary smear of lipstick on the rim. Big yikes!

Other than that, it's dingy on the inside and a little expensive for what it is. You could do worse for killing time, but...

Excellent tasty roast & lovely staff! Dog friendly too!! Despite living local (Hockley) this was my first visit with friends to eat. We were lured by the roast, we had 2 turkey and a vegetarian roast. It was so tasty! Big meal! We looked at the menu and we're impressed with both the selection of dishes and the prices - all very reasonable. The two barmaids couldn't be more helpful and cheerful. The service was excellent.
