Burger & Pizza Rooms — Restaurant in Rotherham

My husband, friend and I visited the Burger and Pizza rooms this evening and unfortunately I’m feeling extremely disappointed. We had high expectations for this new establishment which unfortunately were not met. Upon booking the table via phone, we were asked for any dietary requirements. My husband stated that both him and me were vegans. When we ordered our meals, we made it incredibly clear that we were both vegans and would require the vegan option. When the food arrived, the server specifically stated that both meals were VEGAN. However, once I had taken a bite, it became clear that it was not vegan cheese. It was definitely dairy cheese. As soon as I realised, I notified the server straight away. They offered no apology at this stage and appeared to have a lengthy conversation amongst staff, appearing to be laughing and joking at points. After a while, another staff member came to our table (presumably the chef) and said there had been an error and it was dairy. I explained to him that not only do I not eat dairy on ethical grounds, I have an allergy. He did not appear to understand the severity of the situation at all and offered us a free free drink for the inconvenience. We stated we were uncomfortable paying for the food and he said he’d have to consult the owner. We did pay for our starter, drinks and friend’s meal but got the meals in question taken off the bill. I feel extremely saddened that in 2022 there’s still such a lack of respect and understanding for allergies and veganism. We really like to support local business and contribute to their success but I really feel this isn’t good enough and my concerns...

We booked a table for the valentine event and we have dined many times here before and never have standards slipped so far. We were seated virtually in the toilets next to an open door. We asked to be moved to a different table but the so called “manager” in a hoodie (shame he could not reflect the smartness of the serving staff in his attire) said none available even though we could see 4 available and 2 of them were not used all night. We ordered drinks which were sent to a different table and they refuse to give us fresh ones. The starter came on time but it took over an hour to get the main course of steak which is very poor. The steak was good but the sides were cold. At this point we asked for the dessert to go as we had lost patience with the ability to get food out in a timely manner. This will definitely put us off visiting in the near future and will probably go to Paulo’s or Venus where they treat customers the right way. Also at no point did anyone come and speak to us about the complaint we had raised...

Fist time we had tried Pizza and Burger Rooms. Looking forward to going back again to try the other things, the Indian menu sounds amazing but we stuck to burgers and pizza. To summarise we all thought it was a bit like Pizza Express but better in every way. Portion sizes were generous (a bit too big, we decided not to have a starter and it’s a good job as we didn’t quite manage all our mains), plenty of toppings, not over cooked, and a bit cheaper too. I had tiramisu for dessert, which was lovely, but I could only eat half, the bowl was a large bowl full of the desert. About half the size would have done for me. We took the leftover pizza home for another day. Service was a touch on the slow side, but the food was freshly made and well worth the wait. Toilets were clean too which is always nice and a good sign.

Will definitely be visiting again soon. Definitely one of the best restaurants...
