The Little Mester is an nice local pub owned by the Green King group. Located in Anston 10mins from M1 J31. They serve a variety of ales and lagers and serve your standard pub food served throughout the day. Only pub in the area still running a football team, pool table, and Dart board are on site and the beer garden is a good seating area outdoor. Some of the seating indoors is well worn and could do with a revamp. Nice and clean inside but the blinds were drawn on this visit making it look dark and unwelcoming inside. Staff were well presented, pleasant and polite. Games night on Mondays, quiz on Tuesday. Gin cocktails and coffee is also served here. Toilets are modern and fresh looking although on this visit the lighting was dim giving a seedy atmosphere and very unwelcoming smells. Having said all the above on the Saturday afternoon visit I was there it was very busy. A typical family pub If this review was informative enough for you give it a thumbs up for ot

Amazing food, absolutely amazing food Honestly if you get a chance to eat here i couldn't recommend enough It's clean, really friendly staff who are tentative but not overly Prices are very good for quality and quantity of food and did i mention the food tastes sooooo good The staff where also very good with checking with the kitchen staff for allergy information that wasnt listed on the allergy information they had I had the the roast chicken and southern fried chicken skewers with the chips, galic bread and sweet chilli sauce The chicken was so tender and delicious I also shared some of the garlic mushrooms which were really good, the whole meal had me very happy from the first bite

Went here for the first time recently, lots of parking spacious inside with various seating options , shows live sports / football , staff were friendly and polite , had the steak pie with chips and peas which was nice , also had a pint of Guinness, place could do with a lick of paint but good value for money & would go again

I've had enjoyable meals here before, which makes last night's sausage and mash in a Yorkshire pudding even more disappointing. Sausages undercooked, pudding as dry as cardboard and difficult to cut, mash was indescribable, peas dry and like bullets. Almost certainly leftovers from lunchtime, which sat on a warming tray for a few hours. One of the good points of this pub was that dogs were welcome, and created a good atmosphere. We can still take them in, but it's obvious we aren't welcome, and now banished to odd areas. Don't feel welcome any more.

2 months later -update. What was really nice was that the manager contacted me to talk about what had happened, and didn't dismiss my concerns in sarcastic fashion (which sometimes happens at other places. ) I've been back in a couple of times.

Further update: Well done to the pub, things are now back to as they were, and I'm popping in quite often...

I have emended my original review as I think the food and beer availability have got better recently. Beer selection was good a while ago with some good real ales on, but the brewery is not allowing these guest ales on much now in order to push sales of their (green king ales), there are a few guest ales on, but either don't last long, or just has a sign on saying "coming soon". It would be better if more guest ales were available at the same time. I appreciate this is down to the brewery and not the staff who run the place day to day. Still a good pub to have a walk to if local, and whilst there are not many good pubs around here in walking distance to where we live, this is probably the...
