Our "quiet afternoon drink" (Monday 6th June, 12.30pm, 2022) was ruined by a group of four men shouting and swearing, while bar-staff totally ignored the situation. To make matters worse, as we left, my wife heard one of them make comments about my 'bandana', which I wear to cover my bald head after cancer treatment. This deeply upset her. If It gets like this early on a Monday afternoon, I dread to think what Friday and Saturday nights must be like. I can't imagine that the manager and senior staff would put up with such loud-mouthed filth. A little banter is fine - but loud and offensive behaviour which upsets other customers is not. Once upon a time a favourite of mine, now a very infrequent customer, instead i go next door to The County. Upon entering the Angel you've a good chance of being greeted by the foul smelling drains, the bar prices are now extortionate, it's pretty dead even Friday/Saturday night but can be busy.. ish afternoons with sport on the TVs especially racing. It's basically gone down, down, downhill year on year for the last half a dozen years and has lost favour with a lot of it's regulars. I still call in for the occasional drink but it's definitely lost it's mojo along with the option of "buy two, get one free" When going to all the other pubs which are ALL significantly cheaper and tbh have a lot more to offer...
