Just been to the Cod Scallops in Wilford. Definitely not worth the price £16 for fish chips & small dish of mushy peas. On our first attempt we stood at the entrance for ages being ignored whilst waiting to be seated (only 1 other couple in there but 8 staff that we saw) In the end we sat down & waited again for absolutely ages to be acknowledged… noone acknowledged us so we left. We then decided to give them another chance so went back & service was quicker this time but….. I ordered sea bass with salad instead of chips. When it came with chips I explained that I had ordered salad instead of chips but was told Chips came as standard & that I had to have chips & pay extra for salad (not what it said on menu). In the end no charge was made for salad but I shouldn’t have had to argue my point. The Table next to us were told they had to pay extra for the tartare sauce … they said couldn’t be bothered to argue but won’t be back!!! Also Place is new but got battered old school chairs. Very disappointing as Sherwood one is lovely.. just thought I’d let you know as it’s shame if he’s losing customers.. it was today Saturday...
Read moreI've used TCS in the past at the Bramcote branch and the only reason I didn't use it more frequently was that I was not often over that way.
I'd promised to get fish, chips, and mushy peas for the family dinner today, so decided to give the new Wilford Lane branch a try. I nearly didn't because of some of the (in my opinion) misleading reviews on here.
There was only me and a couple of others in at that time (2.30pm). My order was taken immediately, and everything was cooked from scratch.
The cod TASTED like cod. There was plenty of it. The batter was crispy. The chips were also nice and crispy. The mushy peas had a beefy taste you don't often get these days at most chip shops. And even the tartare sauce I bought as an afterthought tasted like I remember it.
The portion size was just more than I could eat (I ate all the fish and peas, though). It seems some people aren't happy unless there's too much for them.
IT. WAS. NOT. GREASY.
Yes, the total order was just shy of £35. But I was fully expecting it to be.
The staff were friendly and polite, and the place is...
Read moreWent to cod scallops in wilford for lunch Monday 6 June. We ordered a lunch time special which consisted of chips, small fish, peas and a cup of tea this was for my mum who being 90 doesn't eat big meals, I on the other hand ordered a large fish, chips and peas plus a cup of tea. The peas an tea being extra. I was very disappointed when they came out as both meals looked exactly the same but mine was £8 more. The food was ok nothing to write home about and certainly no better than any pub in the area which to say there a fish and chip shop is bizarre and more expensive for very little. As 1 reviewer already said not as good as Ruddington chippy. Shall not be going back would have thought for a new venture the food would be top notch and trying to impress customers so they return but clearly this...
