Just been to the Cod Scallops in Wilford. Definitely not worth the price £16 for fish chips & small dish of mushy peas. On our first attempt we stood at the entrance for ages being ignored whilst waiting to be seated (only 1 other couple in there but 8 staff that we saw) In the end we sat down & waited again for absolutely ages to be acknowledged… noone acknowledged us so we left. We then decided to give them another chance so went back & service was quicker this time but….. I ordered sea bass with salad instead of chips. When it came with chips I explained that I had ordered salad instead of chips but was told Chips came as standard & that I had to have chips & pay extra for salad (not what it said on menu). In the end no charge was made for salad but I shouldn’t have had to argue my point. The Table next to us were told they had to pay extra for the tartare sauce … they said couldn’t be bothered to argue but won’t be back!!! Also Place is new but got battered old school chairs. Very disappointing as Sherwood one is lovely.. just thought I’d let you know as it’s shame if he’s losing customers.. it was today Saturday...

I've used TCS in the past at the Bramcote branch and the only reason I didn't use it more frequently was that I was not often over that way.

I'd promised to get fish, chips, and mushy peas for the family dinner today, so decided to give the new Wilford Lane branch a try. I nearly didn't because of some of the (in my opinion) misleading reviews on here.

There was only me and a couple of others in at that time (2.30pm). My order was taken immediately, and everything was cooked from scratch.

The cod TASTED like cod. There was plenty of it. The batter was crispy. The chips were also nice and crispy. The mushy peas had a beefy taste you don't often get these days at most chip shops. And even the tartare sauce I bought as an afterthought tasted like I remember it.

The portion size was just more than I could eat (I ate all the fish and peas, though). It seems some people aren't happy unless there's too much for them.

IT. WAS. NOT. GREASY.

Yes, the total order was just shy of £35. But I was fully expecting it to be.

The staff were friendly and polite, and the place is...

Went to cod scallops in wilford for lunch Monday 6 June. We ordered a lunch time special which consisted of chips, small fish, peas and a cup of tea this was for my mum who being 90 doesn't eat big meals, I on the other hand ordered a large fish, chips and peas plus a cup of tea. The peas an tea being extra. I was very disappointed when they came out as both meals looked exactly the same but mine was £8 more. The food was ok nothing to write home about and certainly no better than any pub in the area which to say there a fish and chip shop is bizarre and more expensive for very little. As 1 reviewer already said not as good as Ruddington chippy. Shall not be going back would have thought for a new venture the food would be top notch and trying to impress customers so they return but clearly this...

I came in around 2:30pm to order a quick lunch before the doctors and before work I ordered the lunch time special a hot drink tea or coffee with mini fish chips and mushy peas with a side of tar tar sauce. Not a fan of tar tar sauce but you have to try when it's given to you it was okay, the chips were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside that's with salt and vinegar on them with a little lemon juice fallen on top from the fish, the fish as well had a crunchy batter but very flakey inside very delicious one of the best mini fish I have tried, the peas were good standered chippy peas can't go wrong and for the price of £10 it's a bargain cooked to perfection and service with a smile, would definitely go again.

From the moment I called to ask what time we could dine until I was impressed...Mia greeted us at the door and we were invited to choose our table. We were left to choose from the menu, I went for old school Prawn Cocktail and Moules Meunieure with a Coca Cola tm, George opted for haddock and chips! Also with a coca cola! Our food arrived, served impeccably and the tastes were divine! Prawn cocktail felt like I was in 1983 and was perfect 👌 as were my Mussels! George woofed his haddock down and I got to sample a few of his chips as I made a "butty" . Toilet 🚻 was unisex, clean and well stocked. I cannot give 10 stars or I would! Go, just go! Gemma and her Team will be only too pleased to serve you! 🐟 🐠 🍟 🦐🦞🍤👌🙏

Being a veggie I sort of steer away from Fish & Chips. However, so glad I came across The Cod's Scallops! Fab to have somewhere to sit in and have a proper plate of chips. The venue is clean modern with a seaside vibe, staff are very friendly! I had the Halloumi, mushy pea fritters and mushy peas downed with a brew! I shared my halloumi to make room for an ice cream cone for dessert which was delicious! A wonderful surprise of pieces of seaside rock when you pay your bill! There is also a loyalty card I will definitely be going again!
