I was looking forward to a nice meal here with my sister & brother in law who had driven from Chester. I arrived first , no one there to greet me so I went to the bar where I spoke to a young girl. She took me to our table with a variety of menus. There was an awful cold draught every time the entrance door opened, When my sister arrived a young chap came over , on a Friday afternoon on 22nd of December you would expect some sort of happy vibes, it was quite depressing,no music & miserable faces . I don't drink so asked the chap for a j20. They don't sell it so I chose a sparkling elderflower , no ice. A while later our drinks arrived, I had a glass to the brim of ice & elderflower tonic! It was bitter & not nice , it is more of a mixer drink. I expected a nice sweet presse . The menus had us quite confused with abbreviation letters on some dishes you didn't have a clue what they meant. Waited quite a while for our food. It was very nice when it did arrive. I was looking forward to dessert as I had opted for the two course menu which wasn't cheap. Sadly there was none left of the lemon posset , nothing else appealed . There was nothing chocolate on the menu which is a must at Christmas. Very disappointed so I just had a main course. The waiter was curt & a face like thunder. Having worked for thirty odd years in catering,a smiling happy attitude is what's required! I left feeling as if I had been an inconvenience & ripped off , the bill was £100 for three covers & needless to say we won't be...

Visiting the area for a wedding and checked google for a decent gastropub. Happy to find somewhere that had been recommended in the Michelin guide. Service was rushed due to kitchen closing soon and not very attentive after taking orders. Food was terrible. The pate we ordered was okay yet lacked any complexity and was more like a terrine. Pork belly had no fat and was dry. The ribeye had barely been cooked to rare however I had requested it to be medium rare. The steak was difficult to run a knife through. Salad was drenched in oil and mushrooms had an odd taste. We informed our server who was more than happy to have them remade or take them off the bill but at that point we just wanted to eat, pay up and leave. Could be a nice place with greater attention to detail both from foh and boh yet the food was reminiscent of...

Popped in for a Sunday Roast as we're new to the area and are just a five minute walk from the pub.

Service was helpful, friendly, and attentive but the food was lacking. My partner and I both had the roast beef with a side of cauliflower cheese. Beef was very fatty and rather than a few slices we were given one huge slab each which was a strange choice. Roast potatoes weren't cooked enough and the cauliflower cheese was bland and undercooked.

It was a nice touch being given extra gravy from the get go rather than having to ask but a lacklustre meal non the less. Given the price I expected a far far better standard and quality. We also mentioned when ask the points I've raised above and there was no effort to reconcile the matter - which I think is important to mention also.

We left disappointed and won't be...

If you are looking for somewhere to go for a filling lunch or dinner, you should definitely consider the Ruddington Arms. They have a great selection of food and drinks, which are all of excellent quality. Due to how good the food is, the place can get really busy on weekends and paydays but it is still recommend you visit this place. When I visited for the Chicken Club sandwich, it wasn't too busy as it was mid month. Nonetheless if you see a planning a get together in the Nottingham area, the Ruddington Arms is a great place as the staff make sure the environment/ atmosphere stays in motion.

Visited the Ruddington Arms at the first opportunity when lockdown rules relaxed. Love the premise of the pub and the food didn't disappoint, personally. The service was attentive and the variety of the food on order was certainly more interesting than the usual pub grub fare. The scollop and crispy chicken skin starter was a highlight (as shown below) A friend of mine did have to return their steak due to it being overcooked, which knocked our eating times off a bit kilter but our server did so happily, without us feeling awkward but otherwise we had a very enjoyable experience.

Update: had lunch here and remains 5 star, soup and a sandwich was delicious. I love coming back. Old: Had an awesome Saturday lunch here. We had the halloumi and mushroom burger and the beef burger with pulled pork special burger. I must say the halloumi vegetarian burger was just awesome. And the pulled pork was great to. It came with a side of chips and coleslaw, and again these sides were both great, and don't say that often about coleslaw! This was the first time I have been here, and I would def be back. I will reccomend this place to anyone.
