I travelled solo to manchester for a 2 day trip. This was the least expensive stay when compared with others, not just in its vicinity but overall in Manchester. Looking at the distance from the airport made me wonder if should book the place. However, I am really glad that i did. If you are in manchester for travelling, then there are no issues travelling to the center via a bus or a train. Its pretty convenient. The area outside has convenience stores, tesco and places to eat around a 5-10 mins walk away. About the rooms, i booked a bed in the hostel. It wasn't anything special but it was more than what i could ask for the price i had paid. The bed was comfortable and the Internet was fast
Washrooms were clean.
Now coming to the best part. The charm of this place are the breakfast and the owner of the place. Owner is genuinely a nice person, he is thoughtful and tries his best to keep the customers needs ahead of him. I realized that his business has taken a hit in the recent months. But even during these tough days, he tries to provide you with a good experience. I respect him for that. A free breakfast in a price like this was a surprise. I didnt have high expectations for the breakfast. I was really surprised that they provide a buffet like breakfast, where you get a variety of foods which you can choose to your liking and the owner does his best to help you out with what you might want to have. All in all, I believe this is a pretty nice accomodation in a budget. I am really happy with my stay there.
P.S: I would really love if the owner could get some more support by getting more bookings, like i said eariler, he might be going through a rough time. It would be great to show some support to his business.
I would definitely book this accomodation again, if i travel to manchester in the future.
Thank you...
Read moreWould thoroughly recommend! Extremely reasonably priced rooms. Comfortable bed. Nice and warm in room. The breakfast selection was outstanding for a continental selection. Great choices ranging from eggs/bacon to pancakes/pain au chocolats, bagels and brioche. The owner, Peter, goes above and beyond for guests and makes you feel very welcome. Two fellow guests are checking out early tomorrow and Peter has said breakfast will be out early for them which I thought was very kind considering he must be up till the early hours with the running of the pub. Great detail on the room information card is provided to assist you with your stay. It feels like home from home at the Oddfellows arms.
The pub has live music and entertainment most evenings. Also I believe the drinks are very reasonably priced.
The location is also great with very easy access into Manchester City centre. Bus stop right outside which comes every 20 minutes. Also very close to swinton train station. Tonight I had dinner at a Chinese buffet up the road which was incredible value for money.
I would recommend this place for anyone visiting Manchester. Very very reasonable with lovely hosts. I would return here most...
Read moreOne of the best, rather the best budget hotel in Manchester on a main bus route connecting Bolton and Manchester. Also, not far from the train station. There is a sense of community to the pub downstairs frequented by locals, and very lively too. Peter, originally an Irish, who runs the place, is very friendly, welcoming, organised, and does his best to keep the place tidy. Peter has a decent knowledge of the nice places around Manchester where one could go for a short day trip. The staff was very nice too. There is a great chance that one would bump into nice people coming from all the different places and make good friends here. Such people and such places are very...
