One of the most beautiful Kurdish cuisine restaurants in Birmingham! We visited Ama Restaurant for Ramadan iftar. To start, they served soup, water bottles, and dates. We then ordered grilled dishes and some traditional Kurdish meals we hadn’t tried before, and they were really delicious—except for the bamya soup, which we didn’t enjoy as much. The grill platter for one had a small portion of meat, with most of the platter filled with rice and salad. Hygiene is excellent 🔝—tables are cleaned immediately after clients leave and prepared for the next guests. Service is professional, gentle, and quick. Overall, we loved it and highly recommend it. On our next visit, we tried dolma and a mutton meat dish. The dolma was beyond delicious, exceeding our expectations, while the other dish was okay. However, I would like to share some feedback: please speak with your staff. This visit, some team members showed disrespectful behavior, which was disappointing. As a family, we love visiting a restaurant with a welcoming and respectful atmosphere. During Ramadan, we were served by very respectful staff, but this time, the service felt careless and lacking manners.

The food was great! Really good! But I assume because of Ramadan around dinner time the place is quite chaotic. We waited 30-40 mins to be sat. And the order was only taken 20 mins later. The food took another half an hour. But it was amazing. The staff seemed friendly but super busy. Although there were many staff members it felt understaffed. It was hard to get someone’s attention as every costumer needed something as well. The place was full. The interactions that we had with servers we’re attentive though. The decor and atmosphere of the place is very authentic and interesting. They give you lentils soup for free as you sit down. Overall it was a alright visit, but would definetly recommend to visit around lunch or later at night as at peak dinner time the experience wasn’t the best. Would come back but not in peak time!

Wow! What an amazing experience. Food was absolutely delicious. Had soup for starters, then a mixed grill platter for 4 people as the main. There is so much happening on the platter that we were spoilt for choice. Customer service is top notch. Yousef who served us was so welcoming and professional. The same applies to the rest of the staff. The food hygiene and cleanliness of the place is exemplary. Also, washrooms are exceptionally clean. Had a complimentary cup of tea before we left. That was like the pièce de ré·sis·tance of the night and a lovely gesture by Yousef our server. I would highly recommend this place. It has a very relaxed atmosphere. Also at the moment, they are offering a 20% discount on the bill. Win win all round.

Ama is a hidden gem that offers an authentic taste of Kurdish cuisine. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The decor is tasteful, blending traditional Kurdish elements with modern touches, creating a cozy yet refined dining space.

The menu is a delightful journey through Kurdish flavors. Their lamb kebabs are perfectly seasoned and tender, while the dolma is rich and satisfying, wrapped in grape leaves that melt in your mouth. The standout dish for me was the kubba—a crispy yet soft shell filled with a savory mixture of spiced meat.

If you’re a fan of bread, Ama’s freshly baked naan is a must-try, especially when paired with their creamy baba ghanoush or tangy yogurt dips. Vegetarians will also find plenty of options, from hearty lentil stews to vibrant salads bursting with fresh herbs and citrusy flavors.

The service at Ama deserves special mention. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and eager to recommend dishes based on your preferences. It’s clear they take pride in showcasing Kurdish culture through their food.

For dessert, don’t miss the baklava—it’s perfectly flaky, with just the right balance of sweetness and nuts. Pair it with a strong Kurdish tea to round out your meal.

Ama is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience that immerses you in Kurdish tradition and hospitality. Whether you’re new to this cuisine or a long-time fan, this spot is worth visiting. I’ll definitely be coming...

After a day exploring Stratford Upon Avon, my coworkers and I decided to try a Kurdish restaurant, but it turned out to be quite the experience—just not the one we were hoping for!

I walked in excited for a flavorful culinary adventure, but instead, I encountered dishes that were poorly seasoned and overly salty, accompanied by an unpleasant odor.

To make matters worse, the atmosphere was off-putting. The background music was blaring, making it hard to enjoy our conversations. When I arrived to greet my coworkers, who had already been seated, the manager, Shoan, yelled at me with an angry expression, saying I was too loud and needed to sit down until our orders were taken. I was taken aback by his rudeness and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Out of respect for my office manager who organized the outing, I chose to stay silent and not engage further with him. The rest of the staff also seemed to be in low spirits.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The food was excessively salty, and the service left us feeling unwelcome. At least I was able to share a laugh with my coworkers afterward—sometimes you just have to find humor in a bad meal! Here’s hoping our next dining adventure is much better!

I have no plans to return to this restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the pictures; the food presentation was even worse than expected, and I couldn’t bring myself to take more than one bite of my dish. I also tried the baklava and tea, but the sweetness only made...

First time customer lived in smethwick my whole life and visited the previouse restaurant that used to be here befor AMA Restaurant.

Nice & warm decor and seating.

Food was very dry, bland and lacking in flavour which was disappointing. Sent back the grilled chicken wings meal and asked for it to be removed off the bill as it was inedible, one of the waitress working there came to the table and demanded I pay for it and theres nothing wrong with it, even after sending it back to the kitchen. When asked for a manager the waitress replied she is the manager and made a scene in the restaurant refusing to take it off the bill and demanding that I will be paying for the food that was sent back.

Luckily another much lovelier and more plesant member of staff who overheard the whole situation came and apologised and sorted it out, and the item was removed.

I don't believe the waitress who initially came to the table was the manager as I find it hard to believe giving her customer service skills and attitude to customers. If she is, she needs to be retrained on how to speak to customers and treat them with respect. Disgusting attitude and behaviour from that one member of staff ruined the whole experience, could have been handled better..... like recommending an alternative option. Shame even though the food was not a hundred percent we would have potentially tried something else. But because of how we was treated we won't be...
