Ok so I really like these types of places and was reluctant to put this up. I went to this place a few weeks ago whilst waiting for my cars MOT, ordered a samosa chaat it came after 15 mins, 2 over cooked, hard small samosas sitting on top of a green paste,g chickpeas and some yogurt, garnished with around 6 little red onion rings. I was disappointed as samosas are not hard to get wrong. The chickpeas was probably the best thing on the plate. I have added an image to google. The interior was hand painted with India village life theme spread on every wall which was nice to look at, deliberately cheap chairs and table to give that authentic back yard feel. They charged me £7.99 for the samosa chaat, which I think is expensive given that Golus Dhabba is surrounded by mechanical garages and industrial estates and there is a free gudwara lungar down the road. I think Golu had a dream building this place, but the prices and quality of food has really let it down. I hope Golu takes this feedback positively and makes some changes for the better.

*Golu Da Dhaba in Birmingham is an absolute gem!* From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and hospitality were palpable. Owner Golu, along with his exceptional team Harman and Yashika, made us feel incredibly welcome. Their attentiveness, humility, and willingness to accommodate our needs were truly remarkable. Now, let's talk about the food! It was simply superb. The Paneer Pakodas were a crispy, flavorful delight, the Kulchas were perfectly baked and utterly delicious, and the coffee was the perfect finish. Every dish tasted incredibly fresh, a testament to their commitment to quality. The service was impressively fast, rivaling even the efficiency of a well-oiled machine like McDonald's. If you're looking for an authentic vegetarian experience in Birmingham, Golu Da Dhaba is a must-visit. The combination of fresh, delectable food and genuine 'desi' vibes creates an unforgettable dining experience. We absolutely loved every moment!"

Visited yesterday, years after I visited their other branch with work colleagues which closed down.

Ambience - not that great compared to others but I usually don't mind it as far as food is to my liking.

Food - spicy for us, but kids managed to still eat it. Had better food elsewhere, but can't complain much, worth the price.

Service - was quick, but also the reason of the rating. Ordered all food with Masala chai that we asked to bring out before food. Food started coming out, 2/4 first served with no sign of chai. When asked got told its getting prepared and on the way. Few minutes later 3rd dish arrives and still no sign of chai, at which point I asked the young waitress to cancel it. We continued with food, last dish served and we ate all. Worth mentioning that when repeating our order, she even read out that the masala chai was before all the food. Whilst paying I was told 'cash only' which yes was displayed but also whilst entering I saw the card sign saying 'dojo', contactless etc. Same girl insisted on cash and when I mentioned the sign she said she doesn't know about it. I was making my way out to get cash when she asked how much cash I had and see if she could 'adjust' . Miraculously a card machine appears after calculating the difference which I pay and we leave. In summary, no chai on time for this chai lover and little cash/ card trick attempted on customer. Waste of an evening which I insisted on eating out when wife was happy to spend it at home.

PS - I got charged for the chai and I politely paid to get out of there as...

Firstly, I went there from Stafford to Smethwick on someone’s suggestion but I feel useless going there as firstly we went there they told us to wait for 10 minutes so we used washroom that time and after 10 minutes someone came and directly went to sit on the table and no one assisted us. Secondly, we had a table and we ordered Manchurian, veg noodles, plain noodles(for kid) lime thandai and sweet lassi after 10 minutes we forget to add plain chips we added that in our order. The chips came to table in just 5-10 minutes and the food and drinks didn’t came. So, i went to the table to ask for some soft drink and water to have as the drinks were late. I waited for 30-40 minutes for this much order and after that when I asked waitress about my order she said it will take more 20-30 minutes. When the order came plain noodles were missing and the drinks also not came after having my meal also. So, I went to table for my billing as the drinks didn’t came and nor the plain noodles came. The owner or the man on main desk told me not to pay the drinks only pay for Manchurian and noodles and had the drinks for takeway as I don’t like the service. But they should have told us as we didn’t had our main course due to their poor service. I don’t recommend them as their service is not good. There are only 2 waitress to serve everything. If you got enough time to waste you...

This is a very good place to have dinner! We went on a weeknight, so it was very empty (our group was the only one), but still, our server guided us through the options very nicely. We started with the chilli soya, manchurian, dahi bhalle, and pani puri, all of which were great. We then got shahi paneer, malai kofta, and dal makhani, which all tasted very nice, but I was particularly impressed by the naan, which is something I don't often pay too much attention to. We wanted to get rice, but the server explained that since we had come quite late, the kitchen was about to close and we wouldn't be able to get rice at that time, which was understandable and he was very polite about it. The reason I have given 3 stars to the atmosphere is that the toilets are quite small and were a bit unclean. But otherwise, the atmosphere of the main hall was great, with large wall murals and nice diwali decorations. The other problem I had was with the plates, which are shaped weirdly so it is hard to eat from them - they are sort of sunk in the middle, so the part that you can actually eat from is much smaller compared to the plate's diameter - so the sabjis kept mixing. I would definitely recommend this...
