Port ‘N’ Ale - Indian Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Sandwell

Had not eaten here before but certainly will go back! A lovely greeting when entering, wide range of beers on offer, a table had been reserved in advance for 4 and TV screens showing sport on every wall. It isn't table service, you order at the kitchen hatch and collect your own drinks from the bar. Food arrived promptly, 8 poppadoms and sauces, 4 mains, 2 rice and 4 naan breads. Piping hot and packed with flavour. £53 in total. I had saag paneer and thought it was one of the best I have ever tasted. My wife had saag balti and asked if she could have extra vegetables in it. The chef explained it may ruin the taste if she did, and he wasn't wrong, she said it was beautiful. I know, I finished the bit she couldn't eat! The other 2 dishes were chicken and lamb and seemed to have plenty of meat in them and lots of compliments about the flavour. Rice and naans were lovely too. Staff were super friendly and there was a nice atmosphere in the venue. Don't expect a restaurant, it is a pub serving very nice food. Highly recommended and look forward to...

Went to the Port and Ale today for hubby's birthday treat. Everything was great from the moment we walked in. Great friendly and professional service. And the food was excellent, best we've had in a long time. Steve had the Goat Curry, which was rich and tasty, with a deep flavour. The meat was melt in the mouth tender. My son and I shared a Mega Grill, which was delicious. A mini mountain of different meat, chicken and fish on a sizzling platter, we even had enough to take some home. Always eat from here, we order every Saturday night. Love the mega mix grills and the curries are beautiful. Had always been great value for money too, but the only criticism I have is recently, there seems to have been a change to the portion size on the mega mix grill, its got way smaller so i am having to order a tikka starter to go with it which is bumping the end bill up, so thinking of reducing the amount of times we order from here due to cost, which is a shame because the food is always tasty.
