Awful food. Rude staff. Never again.
How this place can call itself a fish and chip shop is beyond me - they can't even get a single portion of chips right. The chips were greasy and undercooked - raw potato in the centre. When I returned to the shop to request properly cooked chips, I was met with a torrent of abuse, ordered out of the shop and told never to return.
Now, I will admit that I was irritated at having to return to the shop, but I was not rude and there were no other customers in the shop at the time to overhear my complaint. The abuse was entirely unnecessary, but the instruction never to return will be heeded. Honestly, they couldn't pay me to eat the vile muck they serve.
EDIT: The response from the owner is indicative of the sort of response you can expect if you dare to complain. If you suggest the food or conduct of the staff is anything less than perfect, you will be called a liar. It's so much easier to accuse a customer of lying or state that a review is fake than it is to take a good look in the mirror, but if a business owner cannot hear criticism, the quality of their product and service will...
Read moreBest Chippy in Dunoon by far. Was on a wee trip to Dunoon and prior to heading up the road we decided to get a fish supper. We came across Anselmo's and you could see that this place was a clear favourite with locals as well as visitors with a steady stream of customers. Initially we were hoping to get a fish supper, however demand had obviously been great and they unfortunately had no fish left. Ok some may have been disappointed however the staff were great and instead we settled for a black pudding supper and chicken strips supper. Both were cooked fresh and truly were delicious and the chips were simply the best. This place is really great and if you are looking for an exceptional chippy whilst in Dunoon, I would for sure recommend heading to Anselmo's. I am already looking forward to my next trip to Dunoon and one thing for sure we will be going...
Read moreCracking Chippy in Dunoon. Stayed at Hunters Quay for a week, and went here first night. Really friendly staff, had s nice chat with the boss, who knows his stuff. Told me he does the frying that traditional Italian way... he wasn't kidding. The batter still had a crunch right til the end, almost 40mins later, i had to drive back to the lodge. The Haddock was really tasty, not a skimpy portion, well worth the price. It was so good, I went back on my last night and it was just as good. I will definitely go here anytime I...
