Disappointing Experience with Room for Serious Improvement
I had high hopes for Bamboleo, but our experience left us disappointed and questioning the restaurant's standards. While the food overall was passable, the service and handling of a serious issue completely missed the mark.
My partner ordered a steak, only to discover bonus toppings in the form of several hairs—an unappetizing surprise to say the least. The staff did apologize, but the situation was handled poorly. We expected a manager or supervisor to step in, offer a sincere apology, and discuss alternatives, but instead, the apology felt surface-level, and the resolution was limited to a casual, "Would you like another?" Unsurprisingly, my partner was put off and declined the replacement. While her meal and our drinks were removed from the bill, it was done with an air of generosity, as if they were doing us a favor. Spoiler alert: they weren’t.
Adding to the frustration, the steak I ordered as medium-rare was closer to still-mooing rare. I’m all for authenticity, but there’s a difference between "medium-rare" and "still needs a vet." To top it off, the service was painfully slow. Long gaps between servings and tables that were only cleared after prompting the staff made us feel like an afterthought.
Restaurants are bound to have the occasional mishap, but how those issues are handled makes all the difference. Sadly, Bamboleo failed to rise to the occasion. A more sincere apology from management, some accountability, and proactive service would have gone a long way. Until improvements are made, I can’t recommend this spot to anyone expecting professionalism and care...
Read moreUnfortunately our experience at Beat6 on this occasion was really disappointing. We booked a table for 6 people to enjoy The Sunday Roast 3 Course menu at £32 per head. The staff are very welcoming and work well however they were so let down by the quality of the food. Firstly, our starters were so poor, very badly presented and tasted like a piece of dated, toasted bread with a plain topping on a plate with no garnish. Given the restaurant supports such a good cause we decided to await our main meals, hoping they would be better. Well they were without doubt the worst plated roast dinner we have tasted in many years from a supposedly quality restaurant. Our beef (both rare and well done) was impossible to cut and when we did manage to cut a piece, it was impossible to chew. The Yorkshire puddings were brick hard! We did complain and to be fair, the staff organised fresh mains apart from one of our guests who was so put off by his initial dish he said he couldn’t take another plate. When our second attempt at the main arrived it was just as bad, meat impossible to cut and eat, hard yorkies. We apologies to our guests we had invited to this restaurant and complained again. We declined any dessert and paid for our drinks, we also left the waiting staff a tip and paid the donation to the charity. We will now never return to Beat 6 and can only suggest a new chef and please take a look at how good Roastit Bubbly Jocks do it. Their Sunday Roast is simple superb. Such a shame we want to support this local restaurant but...
Read moreWe’d really been looking forward to dining here, but sadly, it didn’t live up to expectations.
• Menu availability: Around a quarter of the menu was unavailable—on a Friday night (27/6), no less. This was especially disappointing, as several of the dishes we were most excited to try were among those missing. • Food: Since many of the sharing items were off the table, we opted for the chateaubriand. It was… fine. The peppercorn sauce lacked any real depth or kick—it leaned more toward a pale, creamy white sauce than the rich, punchy kind you’d expect. On the bright side, the chips and mac & cheese were outstanding—absolutely the highlight. All tapas plates were good too, we had three. One came without the red wine sauce as described which was a real faux pas… we presumed that had ran out too but turns out it was just forgotten! • Wine: In a Spanish restaurant, we were surprised to see only one Spanish red available. We ended up choosing a Portuguese red (the name escapes me), but it turned out to be a lovely, flavourful surprise. • Service: The staff were warm, friendly, and knowledgeable, though clearly embarrassed by the number of unavailable dishes they had to list. Service was on the slower side—our order wasn’t taken until about 20 minutes after we arrived.
Overall, it just didn’t match the expectations set by the glowing reviews and polished photos online. We won’t...
