Hook and Catch X Tuck Shakk Bearsden — Restaurant in Scotland

I wish that this place didn't focus on having 1000 different menu items and focused on getting things right first time. Being the only "chippy" nearby you would expect it at least to it right.

I've tried a few times, the chips are pretty light in colour (not a bad thing) but they are pretty much flavourless.

The fish are done 2 ways (typical scottish thing) - battered the fish is soaked in oil, completely greasy - the batter itself is tasteless with no herbs or spices. I'm not asking it to be KFC or jerk chicken, just maybe a little salt and pepper?

To avoid the fish swimming in oil we have tried Panko as well, but its cooked to the point the fish inside is bone dry and hard to get through. The fish itself is completely flavourless, and just feels like you are eating paper.

The panko breading again is completely unseasoned, and it is really hard to get through an entire portion without heaping it with salt and vinegar to try and save it.

Some of these reviews are really questionable - some guy saying he came from London to try a mediocre chippy which fries everything for...

My wife discovered Hook and catch looking for a chippy as ours is closed on a Monday. As she read the menu and the amazing offers our mouths were watering. Being slightly apprehensive trying a new takeaway we couldn't have been further from the truth. It was "AWESOME"! Davie, the manager, couldn't have been nicer. The staff made you feel really welcome and explained what you get on the offers. And the food, the food was fantastic. The "Wee Wido" burger was one of the best burgers I've tried. The "Nippy burd" chicken burger that followed was a super close second. The fish and chips were proper chippy and a massive portion. As a family of five and big eaters we were all stuffed and there was plenty left over. Proper value for money. So, we decided to go back for "Taco Tuesday". Once again absolutely delighted. The staff happy to see you again. And the taco offer is insane value for money. I can't recommend "Hook & Catch" enough. You honestly have to try this place. Customer for life 😂👌

I reviewed hook and catch 2 months ago and said it was amazing. How quickly things change. I originally sent this complaint directly to them but they did not respond so I am posting a review for poor food and poor customer service.

we placed an order online for 7.30 delivery but it tuned up at 4.45 so we sent it back as we were not ready for it. Went it arrived for a second time (at 7.50) it was as if it was the exact same order…it had not been freshly cooked, but left in the box and kept lukewarm for 3 hours. As a result the fish was cold, soggy, greasy and not very nice at all. I’d go as far to say it was inedible (more than half of the fish ended up in the bin it was that bad). The chips were similarly soggy and greasy. In addition, I ordered pickled onions which were missing from the delivery. We have ordered from hook and catch several times before and it has always been great. We will not be...
