4 Forks? Me and my partner arrived at Glasgow airport seeing the new done up Bird & Signet Bar, which we where excited to try seen as it’s set up with a QR code at the table, kind of like Wetherspoons.
We ordered a coffee and a tea, a Scottish breakfast and pancakes. It was beautiful and the atmosphere is very quiet at that morning at 9am. However a few pointers which made the service feel very poor.
First your TV is on, showing the News Channel, fantastic, however no volume which is understandable at 9 am but there was no subtitles so we could not understand a thing which was going on with the News? Strange. I’d maybe put them on? Secondly the food arrived first before the drinks? Now there was a short Que at the till however if orders come through from the QR code then they should be seen to first before the Que as it clearly states that orders should be made via the QR code. I’m sure the rule in hospitality is for the drinks to arrive first before food and that didn’t not happen? Third, the food is small portioned and quite expensive which is understandable because it is an airport. I was expecting that price. However the amount of food for that price and the service isn’t up to par. They need to be balanced to understand for what I’m paying do. Fourth, I wouldn’t moan about the food, infact it was quite tasty and presented quiet nicely, but I am moaning because if the lady who brought us cutlery hadn’t put down 4 forks with napkins and then walked away I wouldn’t have moaned. In shock of this action we laughed, thinking the lady accidentally gave us 4 forks until I pulled her to the side and asked about it, she replied in a very ‘duh’ tone, like I should know. ‘We have no knifes’
Now, if you don’t have something, as you place the forks down you should go on to say, ‘apologies we have not got any knifes this morning, are you okay with two extra forks?’ because at the end of the day. I’m not a mind reader and I don’t work there to understand your dishwasher process. Although the amount of glasses propped up on a trolly at the dinning area siting with stale juice, coffee and drinks would have gave me an indication.
So no I wouldn’t moan about the food at this place, or the quiet atmosphere. However service could be improved, also don’t bring knifes to the table once I’ve finished my breakfast because at that point of service there really isn’t any need for that piece of cutlery which they will most likely have to be take back to the dishes to be washed again for the next person.
All in all, it was a funny meal and we couldn’t stop laughing at the 4 forks. Thanks 🤣 Also see picture for my 4 forks and no drink with my...
Read moreSo I'm giving this 5 stars which is something I don't do very often, however for an airport bar/cafe this place really deserves it. We almost didn't notice the place, it's new and it's right next to the Starbucks so we normally just keep walking at that point. They had a booth available so we jumped in, it was busy but not heaving like the other bars are at the airport. To start off I was already impressed by the cleanliness, not the usual sticky tables you get. The menus is small but very well curated, lots of options including veggie/vegan options which was a much appreciated touch (partner is pescatarian). I'm not a drinker or a big eater at the airport, so I just wanted a coffee and a roll and sausage. To my surprise (and joy) they had square (Lorne) sausage and the option of a flat white. My partner had a roll with veggie sausage and egg and a black coffee. I was genuinely impressed that the coffee was actually pretty decent, it wasn't scorched and the milk wasn't the kind you're supposed to put in a cappuccino - this is a massive achievement imo (for a airport cafe). My partner also really enjoyed his, it was 'drinkable' which again doesn't sound like much but this is way above any expectations for an airport cafe. Lastly the staff we an absolute treat! They were very friendly but not in the forced way you'd (again) expect in the airport. They were genuine and actually had some great patter! Made the whole experience one of the best I've ever had at an airport, I usually dread going but knowing this place is here I'll look forward to it next time! *Forgot to take a proper pic, but here's one of some empty plates and half...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at an exceptional restaurant, and I simply cannot say enough good things about the experience. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew I was in for a treat. The decor was stylish and modern, with comfortable seating and just the right amount of ambient lighting to set the mood.
But what really made the evening so memorable was the impeccable service we received from our waitress, Roz. From the moment she greeted us with a warm smile and friendly demeanor, we felt welcome and taken care of. She was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent suggestions, taking the time to explain each dish in detail.
And the food! It was truly outstanding. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail, and the flavors were simply exquisite. I especially enjoyed the seafood paella, which was loaded with fresh seafood and perfectly seasoned. My dining companion raved about the steak, which was cooked to perfection and served with a mouth-watering sauce.
Throughout the meal, Roz was attentive without being intrusive, always making sure we had everything we needed and that our glasses were never empty. She was a true professional, and it was clear that she took great pride in her work.
In short, I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. From the ambiance to the food to the service, it was an outstanding experience in every way. And if you're lucky enough to have Roz as your waitress, you're in for a real treat! Her friendly personality and exceptional service truly made...
