We had dinner here for my birthday as I couldn't spend it with my family we wanted to do something special. We were seated by one person and told another would be over to take our drinks, we waited 15/20minutes, no apology and she just said "Oh, no one told me you were sat here". I tried to order a draught drink of coke and was rudely told "we don't do that"... I pointed to the drinks menu and said that it's on the menu. The English server snapped at me that we only do cans and then proceeded to list drinks that weren't even on the drinks menu. After ordering the drinks menu was swiftly removed from the table which isn't helpful if we'd like to order anything else. The server seemed to be annoyed we didn't want any starters for some reason. We ordered the 10 oz flat iron steak / prawn and monkfish skewers. The steak was cooked to my liking although I ordered a butter and parsley sauce and what came out was a pad of seasoned butter but the prawns and monkfish seemed to lack any kind of seasoning and just looked sad in comparison. The lightly grilled whole tomato on both plates was just an odd dressing choice. We decided to skip dessert as we'd been driving all day and were tired. When I asked for the bill it was subsequently placed in front of my male partner even though I was the one who had the card ready. We were expecting a lot better considering you're tied to a 4 star hotel but sadly on this occasion we were left...
Read moreWe went in for dinner with our two dogs. We sat in the dog area and we were told we had to move because the area for dogs was rented out. (even though the dining area was empty and they only occupied one table in the dog area). They sat us right next to the entrance and told us to keep our dogs out the way of the entrance for fire safety reason, which I completely understand but the dining area was almost completely empty and they sat us there. Felt like they were imposing extra rules for us that they had caused the issues for. I said to my partner that it was a bit confusing why they would allow people with no dogs to rent out the dog area when the dining hall was almost completely empty. Duncan the manager, overheard this and was quite combative about it, he continued to hint that we would be more than welcome to go to cruise the restaurant over at the other building. I found this to be quite offensive as if we were no longer welcome and tbh didn’t feel like our money was good enough anymore. Caused a rotten atmosphere before we even saw a menu. The night was only saved by the Sophie (one of the servers) who went above and beyond for us and the food was actually delicious. Just didn’t like the mangers “sassy” attitude whose opinion wasn’t asked for to begin with. Left a good tip for the server as she definitely deserved it but I gave it to her directly because I don’t want a single penny of it to go to...
Read moreI went to Brambles for a dinner with my partner on last Sunday 21/09. I ordered the monkfish and prawn skewer with garlic parsley butter. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good experience with the meal because as much as I appreciate the fresh seafood, however as a dish, it lacks a sense of flavour and seasoning. The big tomato on the side made the dish even more wet and loose and the taste of the butter got lost in it. We also wanted to pack the fries to take back with us and the server forgot to bring that back to us. The dish was expensive and was not executed to the standard of its price. Upon putting a request for return and refund, I was told by the server that the supervisor said that they cannot provide refund based on “personal preferences “, well I am not sure how a customer feedback can be objectively provided. Perhaps, it would have been more professional for the manager/supervisor to come and address the situation themselves. It was also a social occasion which was mentioned at the time of booking, so it was even more disappointing that the food was not good and the situation was poorly handled by the team.
I will not recommend this...
