A magical dining experience from start to finish

We recently had dinner at The French Fox to celebrate our engagement during a special trip to Arran to plan our wedding on the island next April and it was and it was hands down one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in a long time. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the beautifully curated space and the incredible attention to detail.

Emma-Jane made us feel right at home, and it was a real pleasure chatting with her about the story behind The French Fox. Her passion and Guy’s skill in the kitchen shine through in every bite. The food was absolutely exceptional, full of bold, refined flavours with a real sense of care and craft.

It’s rare to find somewhere that offers both heart and style in such equal measure. We left feeling truly looked after, grateful and very full. We’d wholeheartedly recommend The French Fox to anyone visiting the island.

Thank you Emma-Jane and Guy for such a wonderful evening. We can’t wait to return.

What a great find! Tucked away off one of the main roads in Brodick, my partner and I only stopped for some ice cream after a long walk but we noticed the menu and how good the food smelled we returned shortly after the ice cream. And it didn’t disappoint!

The menu is that kind that you turn up and see what’s cooking- a good sign in my opinion as it means everything today is fresh - there were 4-5 mains and 3-4 deserts of i remember correctly. We sat out in the small garden style eating space at the back which looks out onto a small stream, ferns and a bridge. I had the grilled aubergine dish which came grilled with perfectly cooked potatoes and an incredible pepper corn sauce, my partner baked Camembert with truffle and sage with some sweet shallots and bread - she said it was amazing. Despite being full we went for desert - choux buns, one with dark chocolate and cream the other raspberry and lemon - and glad we did they were delicious! The owner Emma was so friendly as well. We will be sure to return the next time we go...

Had the pleasure of stumbling across The French Fox in early summer 2024. This a small restaurant with a big beating heart! The couple who run it, work very hard to deliver superb quality yet fairly priced food. Together they create such a warm and friendly atmosphere whilst remaining humble and unpretentious. It is everything a restaurant should be all in a small wooden cabin.... this is an absolute 'must eat' if you are on Arran. I will be very surprised if I ever see less than a 5 star review for this business, dont take my word for it, go and see for yourself, you wont regret it! I would travel back to Arran just to eat here, it really...

We were very pleased to hear we could eat in when we visited on a Friday night after a visit to the botanicals bar up the road. Staff are excellent and the food of the highest quality. They don't skimp with the bread so after our camembert starter we were already quite full but any ideas of taking some of the mains away was overruled by the perfectly cooked Coley fillet and the delicious creamy sauce. It was like a high class Cullen Skink and not a morsel was left. The only disappointment was no room for dessert. Brilliant evening, would highly recommend. You can take your own booze.

What an incredible dining experience in Arran. My partner and I were visiting from New York City, where we’ve been fortunate to try some incredibly delicious and diverse cuisine. The French Fox would go toe to toe with some of New York’s great restaurants. The poulet basquaise was spectacular: rich flavor with lots of depth and such succulent chicken. The hot chocolate shouldn’t be slept on either. We enjoyed the Madagascar cup along with our chocolate profiteroles. I couldn’t recommend this establishment enough!

We nearly didn't go as from what we could see it was either wear outside or take away, but they have about 18 seats inside as well. Our starters (chicken liver parfait & trout rillettes) were to die for and we both choose the same main (Poulet a la Moutarde) which was first rate. I had a giant profiterole which again was excellent. They don't have a licence but are happy for you to take your own drinks. All in all a most enjoyable evening.
