Very good experience as always. Food was amazing, couldn't fault it. Butchers products used and homemade cakes 😋. Very friendly staff who were happy to help. Only slight niggle was there was no hello on entry and had to ask staff member if we could just take a seat. Seen a few people walk in and linger awkwardly with no interaction from staff. But... it was a very busy day and when I spoke to staff they couldn't be more helpful. So this is a very very minor problem, wish I could give service 4.5 stars.

Best for gluten free breakfast in Ballater! I had fried eggs, bacon and beans with gluten free toast, then the GF Cranberry Almond cake which was so delish. Tried the other cafe on the street and was turn away for asking for gf 🙄 but Brown Sugar Cafe were super accommodating and lovely. Plus dog friendly! And very knowledgeable about local walks. Deffo a great stop whilst you’re in town - gluten free or not.

This is a very simple breakfast and lunch cafe with basic sandwiches, friendly service and amazing homemade deserts. The prices are very reasonable and they have a good selection of drinks. Parking can be challenging but there are a few public lots nearby. Worth a stop for the deserts alone!

Popped in by chance with my dear aged mother and we could not have been made more welcome. Although it was quite busy, but they said, “We’ll clean down that table and reserve it for you until you come back with your mum” … everything was tidy and clean along with excellent attentive service. As an experienced hospitality manager (from a previous life!), I know at a glance when the waiting staff are highly competent as they keep busy and have achieved that balance between being polite and hospitable and yet being professionally efficient. All the food is freshly prepared and cooked to order - the cakes looked great too and were reasonably priced. We had toasted sandwiches and they came with a side salad and freshly prepared coleslaw on the plate (why would you buy in coleslaw when it is so easy to make and tastes so much better?)....

I thought I will have coffee here as it seemed totally empty. But when I walked in, a lady welcomed me in and eventhough almost all the tables were reserved, she gave me a very good table, thoroughly enjoyed my very hot latte, I like my drink hot. Though they got my order wrong for the cheese toastie , got white bread instead of brown, it was delicious. Very friendly and helpful waitress, it was fun to watch old ladies and old gentlemen walking in and rushing to sit down as if to catch up on their Tuesday morning chit chat. I now understood why most of the tables were reserved. Thought £9.10 for a white bread cheese toastie and latte a bit expensive though. Would go again but would just have the coffee....

Attitude & customer service is appalling. Rude!!!! I will not be back. Went in for a bacon roll to takeaway & lorne roll lady behind till looked us up and down was rude and snappy. Was not offered a menu just "what do you want" when asked for sausage roll she looked up nose curled said it lorne do you know what that is... clearly thought I was a tourist which makes the attitude worse! Clarify I am not I live other side of aberdeenshire and i know what lorne is and what they served was disgusting with green lumps inside it. Bacon roll however was nice and thats the only reason I gave 1 star. Decor inside needs a serious...
