Very disappointed in this visit. The noise in the restaurant was excruciating. There was music faintly in the background, but the noise of conversation was absolutely overpowering. This establishment badly needs to look at some sort of acoustic dampening. The menus themselves seem to be new, and made of stiff plastic(?). Very difficult to handle. The content of the menu is, nowadays, so disappointing. If you don't like spices, curry, chillies, then you are basically scuppered. I had what was a chicken pie with potatoes and an Indian-style sauce. The top of the pie was puff pastry. The casing, though, appeared to be shortcrust pastry(?) and was solid - like trying to cut through leather. Just edible. I had to Google the sauce to find out what it was. So disappointing. My friend and I ignored the starters. Only the soup looked 'normal', or enticing. With the mains, if you do not want fish and chips, you could have a problem. Spices, chillies, curry, etc., predominate. The Belgian waffles, with chocolate sauce and ice cream, were superb! However, the dessert menu is very limited. Earlier, I might have been interested in the Scottish breakfast, but the menu does not say what the breakfast contains. The service from the waiting staff was pretty faultless, but the kitchen service was very poor. The restaurant was nowhere near full, but it took 30 minutes for our mains to arrive. Is this place trying to be sophisticated with it menu? Sadly, it is failing badly. The overall 3 star rating is only because the waffles were so good, and the waiting staff were pleasant and efficient. Otherwise it would be 2 stars. My dining companion and I are both in agreement that we will not be back, despite...

However, we have one major issue and that is with the deafening level of so-called music or rather noise that the new management insist on inflicting on their day time customers whose average age is somewhere between 2 weeks to 4 years or conversely 45-75. None of whom I believe enjoy the level of music we are all obliged to endure. Normal conversations at tables renders loud music completely inappropriate during these times but notwithstanding that we are forever being obliged to shriek at our nearest neighbours because of the thumping row being belted out. Requests to turn the noise level down are either ignored by management or when members of staff obligingly turn the music down it is soon mysteriously turned up again to a shattering level a while later. Loud music is both damaging and irritating in restaurants where customers expect to chat to their dining companions without having to shout at them. This sort of cacophony ought be kept purely for nightclubs only and should not be inflicted on day time customers who require merely to enjoy conversations and...
