Can I just start this review by saying last Xmas the 5 of us gave the Taj a 10/10,however I find it hard to give it s 1 for yesterday's Xmas lunch but I will due to the waiter trying hard when the problem obviously was something that happened in kitchen but was tried to be kept quiet, the day started for us was 4 pakora and 1 soup, only problem was soup not hot just Luke warm,we then waited 75 mins for our dinners to arrive the 2 Turkey dinners we got had the following 2 small pieces of Turkey 2 potatoes no roasters 5 Brussels 4 carrots and peas and 1 stuffing and 1 sausage wrap what a joke,2 tandoori sizzles which both arrived cold with no curry sauce, complained was cold and no sauce got microwaved as came back slice of lemon was bled dry,ths 2 dinners were just returned as not edible, due to running late we had to not take a sweet as some of us were on nightshift so time was against us,We came to an agreement to pay for 3 meals rather than 5,Just would have rather knew the problem rather than getting offered free proseco,my wife won't forgetYir spot John I have been taking to much off u.stuggling a bit for money reacecenty with the wife not working and stuff but shouldn't take it off u.do apologise just get a bit greedy sometimes.will be a lot fairer in future don't want to get classed as a robbing bastard.but I think u are right and u had to say to me be for it gets out of hand.i do like working for u and I think u are fair with me.so let's move in and put it behind us only pakora for Xmas dinner for...
Read moreOrdered fish ceylonese curry and lamb chilli bhuna as these were both listed as hot & asked for them extra hot/ spicy... we did not enjoy either. Both were overly sweet. The fish curry had batter, seemed like they had used fish pakora in it resulting in soggy gloopy batter within the curry and slimy jelly like fish. Although described as having coconut, it was like descinated coconut was used. It was thick and stoggy. The chilli bhuna (described as extra hot) was nothing like a bhuna I had ever tasted before, it was like tomato soup with extra sugar. We were unable to taste the “plenty of ginger onion & garlic”. The lamb was described as "tender" but it was dry, there was probably two bits that weren't full of inedible hard grizzle so it was much like chewing on an old boot. Neither curries tasted authentic and neither were enjoyable. We also ordered a mince paratha which appeared to have no seasoning and part of it was doughy/ uncooked. Big disappointment and waste of money. Didn’t check reviews until after, but noticed someone else mentioning a similar experience with their fish curry. Really...
Read moreGreat tasting food. Not a comprehensive menu selection but many of the popular ones just not all of them. First time in a long time I've come across an Indian restaurant without any web presence whatsoever. Yes there's lots of reviews and a mention on other sites but no website of its own so no chance to see a menu before you get there. These result of that is your first visit for a takeaway is either a tentative phone call guessing at what they may have or a physical trip and order when you get there. Obviously a popular place like this will be busy on a Saturday night so it was a long wait but the food was worth it. I now have a menu and will phone through my order next time. Like others I'll happily say the food is very good. The staff were nice and the atmosphere in the large takeaway queue (most of whom had a shorter wait as they'd phoned their orders through) was good humoured. No-one was eating in the restaurant but it was early, about 6pm. I will be going...
