Do not book this hotel.Let me start by writing that the only reason we have given 1 star is because the table position at tv was as we asked and the chef's food tasted delicious. Firstly we contacted Sharon to enquire if they would be showing the football all day and also the rugby, when she said they would be, we then asked to book a table, stating clearly there was a party of eight, seven adults and a child and we would be eating and drinking whilst watching the games on tv, she said that would not be an issues and the table was booked. A s we were running a little late, we called and advised Sharon we were running late and she stated that she would hold the table. Good so far. However on arriving at 1.45pm the staff member was not very welcoming when she took as to our tables. Tables situated at tv, another good point. We asked for menus and drinks, told to wait a minute as they were busy, 10 mins later we had to ask again and also for a childs menu. Order taken. Things then go down hill, drinks order takes a further 10 mins to arrive after prompting staff. Overall we were in the hotel for over 4 1/2 hours and we only managed to have four drinks, only after complaining that the service was terrible, that works out at 1 drink per hour, we could have drunk 3 times that. Around 3.30pm we again complained about the service time, food order being incorrect, Jade's attitude was very poor, when my son complained again, she raised her voice and told him not to speak to her like that, we explained that she was in the wrong raising her voice at us, again her attitude was poor, when we explained that the order had onion rings missing, yet an extra chips was given, he then abruptly shouted, I'll take £3.00 of the bill, I told her that's not what we wanted, just improve the service and the attitude so she then stated we had to leave as there was a policy of 2 hours and we were over and they were turning away people, we were in full view of the door, tables were empty that had previously been full, so even with social distancing there were still tables available. Jade left without clearing up and we waited another 35minutes for someone to come to clear the table. There is nothing stated on the website, nor did Sharon state that on booking, considering we stated our intentions to stay and had a 10 year old with us.We awaited the bill. After 45 mins no bills, no member of staff asked us if we need anything, we then had to ask another member of staff Laura to get the bill. We then explained again about the poor service, bad attitude, unacceptable long wait times, the lack of table clearing, which we were doing ourselves and therefore the lack of money the company was making. She stated we had to leave as we had a child with us, who had sat in the corner at all times colouring in, no noise. Yet the group of lads in before us shouting and being lads had the same poor service and were not asked to leave, noise is allowed, just no children with drinking adults?? There was no way anyone in our party could possibly be accused of not putting our grandchild first as we were not all drinking, and the staff don't service enough. I told Laura that in an establishment serving foor a child can stay as long as accompanied by an adult and at no time were we advised of a time limit, we would not have booked with Sharon at that point. This hotel is happy to take money, £200, could have been a lot more, yet the staff are not happy to be hospitable. I wish this was an isolated case, but sadly it is not as my husband stayed in the hotel two weeks before and his party didn't eat or drink in the hotel because the service was so slow that the gave their business elsewhere in the locale. We should have taken that as a warning, even the locals say the hotel can't keep staff and the service is always like that and the staff's attitude is terrible. We will be advising everyone not to go to this hotel, Greene King need to re-educate the staff her in hospitality.

We booked here for a last-minute event. We had a meal at the bar and grill, and it was incredible. The menu had a great choice, but with a focus on steaks and burgers. My husband had the ultimate burger, which was so tasty the burnt ends were mouth watering, and the small pan of gravy on the side we both used to dunk our chips. I had the small 8oz rump steak (there was a 32oz tomahawk steak on the menu, but I don't think we could have finished that between us! ) the steak was a little more cooked than I would have liked, I asked for medium rare, it was more medium than rare, but it was very tasty and the skin on rosemary salted chips were so good (especially pared with the gravy on my husband's plate. The wine that was recommended to go with the steaks went down very well. The menu made a few drink suggestions with the food, which I thought was a great idea. The dessert menu was limited but tasty. The sharer platter looked good, but ultimately, we had our own. I had the brownie sundae, which was so decadent the chocolate brownie was so rich it was almost like fudge, the raspberry cheesecake was a lighter dessert, with a lovely shortbread crumb. 😋 We both had deserts

We dropped by for a bar lunch whilst visiting Leven. We had eaten here years ago, so we didn't know if it had changed or not. We parked to the rear of the building in the Mitchell St. carpark, which is free. The back of the building looks very run down. In fact, we thought it had shut down. However, walking up the side street and round to the front, we found it to be open. There is a side entrance too, but we thought this was just for the hotel. The bar/eating area is very nice and well set out. We were taken to our seats and ordered our food and drinks, which came out soon after. The fish and chips were well cooked, as was the rump steak. Both dishes were delicious. Our lattes were nice as well. This all at a very reasonable price. Special mention to the servers working Sunday 7th January, they were polite, prompt and well presented. They checked with us to make sure the food was ok, and I noticed the tables were cleared and cleaned as soon as the customers left, well done the staff. The toilets were clean and tidy. I can recommend eating here, it was really nice.

Their hotel nearly killed me.

I was sick with fever and flu due to my cold room. This includes, but not limited to: night sweats, vomiting, nausea, cough, chills, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, loss of voice, fatigue, sneezing, headache, inability to stand for long, and inability to sleep, going to the ER, being prescribed medicine, and being urged to vacate or get warm. The heat was constantly off. I told staff for seven days in a row about my situation and that I may need to go to hospital or die if they keep turning off the heat. And it was turned off again after the fact. Arms crossed, I was vehemently denied by two different women to turn it back on. I asked for a blanket too which I could not get. I had to borrow a blanket and bring it to the hotel. I was there for days unable to leave. I was too weak to travel or check out early. I tried one morning and couldn’t even stand long enough to shower. They refused to refund me. My holiday in Scotland was defunct because I was stuck in the hotel trying to heal and get strong enough to leave. What’s sickening is when I said I was going to end up in the hospital or die, one worker defiantly responded, “But did you end up in the hospital or die?!” They kept trying to say I had Covid- all three ladies individually, instead of acknowledging I was cold. I tested negative for Covid. One fiercely argued a person can’t get sick from being cold. When I educated and informed her what the doctor said, she said she wasn’t in the medical field so she didn’t know. Obviously. Their treatment of customers is sub-human. Run. Don’t stay. I’ve talked to locals who said the staff treats...

Myself and my 3yo daughter came to the grill for dinner as a daddy daughter date due to mum having plans, it’s not often we get time just the both of us. Initially it seemed great, despite being busy, we got our order taken quickly and one member of staff brought colouring in for my daughter. We chose to skip starters as I knew my daughter would be keen to get a dessert, but after we had finished our mains, we sat with our empty plates for 40 minutes waiting for a member of staff to move us on to desserts. During this 40 mins others were served, tables cleaned and orders taken but nobody had even looked in our direction, I tried getting the attention of the far away staff but was not seen. It had gotten considerably less busy the later the night went on so it wasn’t as if the staff were still ran off their feet but it seemed like a lot of them had disappeared through the back and I had tried all but walking up to the bar to ask to be moved forward with our meal. Eventually my daughter decided she was too tired and wanted to go home instead of wait longer for the dessert she was so excited for 40 mins ago so we approached the bar and paid the bill and left. This was disappointing as we have had great experiences here before but this time I felt we were out in a corner and forgotten about, which was a pretty rotten feeling as a parent when you are trying to give your child a great day and she’s left disappointed. In hindsight I should have approached the bar sooner but I also feel I shouldn’t have to do this and felt a bit...
