My husband and I went on Friday the 5th August 2017 for dinner .The whole night was a disaster. Our table was booked 7.30...for 8 in in our name Mr and Mrs McVean. ..On arrival there was know one front of house because as we where told later they where so busy. SO not being put off by something so trivial my husband went to the bar to order us our drinks so we could relax before being seated at our table when he went to the bar one woman kind of pulled a face then pointed to an other woman to serve him at which she listen to half the order then walked away Stuart looked at me then sat down not knowing what was going on then after a sort time a waiter came up and took our drink order informing us the woman did not understand him ..it was a pint and a glass of prosseco???we then went to our table my starter was king prawn one of them was nice and meaty but the rest when I pealed them where crumbly and tasteless at that point I did not say anything. ..Stuarts starter was good ...then came the main course Stuarts Veal looked fine and so did mine but when I tried to cut into my steak stuffed with salmon i could not as there was a bit of grissel runing along the full edge of it and just could not get my knife cut it then when the waiter gave me a new knife and I did cut and eat a bit it was cold so the steak and Stuarts meal when back.We then where both given new meals. Stuarts was fine and mines came to me hot an a lot more tasty but as I cut into this steak it was raw inside not what I ordered so it went back .By then the Maneger came over telling us that they where sorry and telling us they had been extremely busy .He said we did not have to pay for our food .....we had a bottle of wine sitting and a pint which we decided to have we where offered something else to eat we declined then after a little while we decided to order a cheese board for one and share it .....when we where leaving we ask for our bill we where more than willing to pay for our drinks..but to add insult to injury we where charged for the cheese board and drinks personally I don't think we should have been charged for anything. ..then they phone us a taxi at our request I said to Stuart I would nip to the loo where I can only describe as having the worst experience due to I am 99per cent sure was caused by eating the prawns .....left feeling very very disappointed with the...
Read moreWhat has happened to Chianti? Over a year ago I posted a 5 star review. It ticked all the boxes for family gatherings, they couldn't do enough for you. Also I am a regular customer who visits for lunch with my dad on a weekly basis. We usually go for the lunch menu. Offering a good deal on 2 or 3 courses at lunchtime. The staff are lovely. I did notice a change in staff members but didn't know that they had changed owners. However I did book a meal for Easter Sunday for a family gathering thinking there was a lunch menu ( £17 for 2 courses, £22 for 3 courses) and also a children's menu usually £6? On last visits, old owner. When we arrived we were given the a la cart menu.No Lunch Menu or Children's Menu available. This was kind of embarrassing because this was my treat and prices were really expensive for me. I didn't want to make a fuss as this was one of the few occasions we actually all get together. It cost me just under £300 for 6 adults and 3 children? The children had to order adult priced meals and drinks that didn't really appeal to them. They just wanted crispy chicken and chips? The waitress when asked, who I knew from previous visits, just pointed to the menu? Where was the friendly helpful Italian family vibe? The Italians are very family oriented and I can't understand why they couldn't rustle something up. The restaurant was half empty, now I know why! I was surprised really and very disappointed in the fact that I wouldn't be returning to the restaurant I thought was great. I deleted the 5 star post because the restaurant has changed so much! Unfortunately we won't be returning for the weekly lunch visits or for the special family gatherings. Note to new owner - why do you not have a children's menu? You should cater for the younger family members. They are very important...
Read moreFirst time at Chianti tonight and honestly....so disappointed. After being seated we were eventually asked if we wanted any drinks. We asked what drinks were available as we hadn't been given a drinks list, only to be met with attitude as she rhymed off different drinks, told us she wasn't telling us all the different types of tonic because 'there is loads'. We got our drinks and sat and watched as ONE of the three floor staff members done the majority of the work, while the girl with attitude and manager appeared to find meaningless tasks to fill their time. This unfortunately meant after almost 20 minutes of waiting we had to ask the one working member of staff if we could be served. She quickly apologised as she looked around the restaurant and informed us she thought one of her colleagues had already served us. This waitress (I wish we caught her name...young blonde girl) is an absolute credit to the restaurant. Pleasant and hard working. She took our order and apologised once again. Starters came, my husband had the stuffed salmon and I had the meatballs. After eating one of the meatballs I cut into the the second to discover it was raw. At that point I was done. Let the waitress know that I didn't want anything else and that once my husband finished his starter we would be leaving. The manager came over and apologised and asked if I'd like anything else. I told him the same thing. Once we asked for the bill we were informed that there would be no bill, which really was lovely of the manager as we were more than happy to pay for our drinks and husbands starter, but the gesture was appreciated. Unfortunately the initial poor service and then raw food is enough for us to be put off completely, we most definitely will...
