Only leaving a poor review as I feel compelled to comment on staff’s belittling behaviour towards a young colleague. Food and drinks were fine and I enjoyed eating here before however on this occasion there was an obvious tense atmosphere from staff towards a younger male colleague who toward us, was incredibly personable, friendly and provided great service. Older staff members loudly discussed his inability to correctly put through tips and made comments behind his back. It’s obvious he’s new and learning and instead of being supportive there was a loud blame game from all in kitchen and as customers I heard and saw how he was treated. Not good guys, especially the red haired male staff stomping around the cafe making facial expressions. Made me feel like I was witnessing school playground bullying. Also have to mention the man who vaped behind the coffee machine inside the cafe and the vape noticeably out on the kitchen worktop…. Not great and also maybe illegal? Real sense of a toxic workplace environment and defo made for an uncomfortable eating experience. If the young male staff member sees this, your chat was great and we’ll remember your friendliness, same can’t be said for your...
Read moreMe and my partner just popped in on our way further north for a couple days getaway and we are so glad we chose to stop in. We had two special hot chocolates and my partner couldn't help but declare it the best hot chocolate she's ever had, we continued with two sausage and egg rolls and it has to be said they were perfect. The bread was so fresh that you could pull it apart with your hands and the sausage so perfectly cooked that my partner who sometimes has issues with eating meat was happily devouring them. The egg was perfect too, love a good runny egg sandwich. My partner also opted for a scone and you could tell that it was fresh made that day as it was still piping hot and soft enough to tear. I myself had a jam doughnut so fresh you could see the dough splitting with every bite. All in all this place warmed us up in the cold weather and made us wish we a place like this near our home so we could...
Read moreMy family where in the coffee corner in january, ordered two soups with bread rolls; along with tea/coffee. Our 4year old daughter had a cheese/ham sandwich and an apple juice. The soups arrived and we where delighted to find they where homemade or locally made;and not the regular factory produce you get elsewhere. The bread rolls where more like english baps rather than a scotch roll; but lovely.our daughter was very lively during our stay and the staff (all male) where full of typical glasgow humour. We found the service very good; no delays in getting our food and the staff made us feel very welcome.I finished off with a fruit scone, which again you could tell was hand made by someone who knew what they were doing., not just churned out in a factory. Just wish it was a bit closer as we where on holiday. I would...
