I visit this place 2-3 times per year as a stop off for food when visiting family. Was last here in March 25 and all was very good. However, something has changed, firstly the attention to detail from staff has dropped. This was a Saturday lunchtime and it was not busy. The drinks we ordered arrived but some parts were incorrect (received an Americano instead of a Cappuccino and was asked if wanted milk for the latte....really?!) The menu has been significantly reduced. Still has the soup, sandwiches and jacket potatoes, with 5 or 6 other main items. My husband had soup which he said was delicious. My MIL had a turkey and cranberry sandwhich. She was asked if she wanted it toasted and answered no, but guess what...it arrived toasted. She couldn't be bothered to change it. I chose beef chilli with rice. This was the worst chilli I have ever had. The kitchen should be ashamed to send that out. The rice had obviously not been drained thoroughly and my plate was swimming in water. There was no tomato sauce in the chilli and was the most anaemic and insipid looking chilli I have ever seen and at £15, was not enjoyable and I didn't finish it. It's a shame as this was a good cafe earlier this year, but I will have second thoughts about buying anything other than a hot...

The food was lukewarm. Except for the beans which weren't even at room temperature. We'd heard good things about the food so this was disappointing. Especially at £12.95 for one skinny sausage, two rashers of bacon, a slice of haggis, a slice of black pudding, half a dried out tomato, an overcooked poached egg, an espresso cup of cold baked beans, a very well done tatty scone and a slice of cold toast. Add on an (admittedly decent) cup of flat white and it's around £15 for a disappointing breakfast. Add on having to try and catch someone's attention, or eat breakfast with my fingers, and I'm sure you get the picture.
One extra star for being super...
Read moreI recently had some allergy tests done which left me feeling quite deflated, like I’d not be able to go out and eat again so that I wouldn’t trouble chefs or servers. However, we were travelling through Perth to a trail centre and needed some food on the way. We saw this place on the map and decided to give it a try, so that we could get some bits we needed from the outdoor shop beneath it. And I’m SO glad we did. The staff were absolutely amazing with me and my allergies and managed to make me a substantial meal that wouldn’t make me ill and didn’t make me feel like I wasn’t cared about. The presentation of the dish was lovely, as was the portion size and overall quality was 5 stars.
We will definitely be returning if we are going through...
