Arrived in Inveraray just after 5pm at the end of an afternoon drive from Loch Lomond. We were looking for a casual dinner somewhere - noticed the cottage restaurant as we were walking towards the George Hotel. Sign on door advised it would re open at 5.30pm so after reading the menu called number provided to check if we could book a table for opening time - woman on phone was so pleasant and accommodating. Came out to greet us 5 minutes later. Myself and my husband were so impressed by the freshness of the food and the value for money. We had delicious salads and our 2 kids had chicken nuggets which were clearly homemade using proper chicken breast meat. We each had desserts and were able to take coffees away for the drive home. It was such a hidden gem of a place with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The lady serving in the restaurant was so friendly, kind and thoughtful. She engaged with each table and gave any useful advice she could to help improve their stay in the region. We couldn't have had a nicer evening and will now always come here whenever we're...
Read moreWonderful gem of a place, hidden away in a corner, down a flight of steps. We were in the town at a time when everything was closed and we found this. Were accommodated, table for 3, without a reservation. Lovely staff. Excellent food. Lovely, friendly waitress. All our requests were accommodated and we had a great meal. Good vegetarian options, limited but excellent in taste. My only minor gripe would be regarding hygiene. We requested boxes to take home the food we could not finish, in my case, the chips. When I asked for a new lid, she was willing to oblige but explained that it had fallen the top side down. Maybe that would have been ok in a pre-covid world but...I don't like to make a scene, I accepted the explanation, but I did not eat those chips. But, I would still go there again if/when I am in Inveraray again, even if other places are open. It was a...
Read moreWe visited here for lunch on a day visit, having known it was here but closed on our last trip.
We had a short wait to get seated but greeted warmly and passed the menus. Both of us had a bit of a squeeze to get into our chairs as the tables at either side were occupied.
The menu had a manageable offering of great cafe food and on offer was a sandwich with either soup or chips combo, which we went for and shared.
The chicken caesar salad toasted sandwich and chips was more than enough for two to share for a nice lunch. It came with some tortilla chips and a nice side salad too.
We were holding off for cake and a coffee afterwards but both were full so had to skip this unfortunately.
Overall, this is a great place to grab good, honest, well priced food but it can take some manoeuvring to get into some seats when full.
Definitely have it as an option when...
