Love love love!

I have a variety of dietary intolerances which make it really difficult to eat out. Samphire stated they could accommodate which was great so I was excited for anything they could offer. Typically I’m lucky if there’s one menu item I can have. With samphire the chef offered several starter, main, and specials options, all adapted to ensure it was safe for me. Honestly super impressed at how incredible this place is for not only accommodating the intolerances but with delivering absolutely delicious food whilst doing so. I had the scallop starter and lobster main and was informed the fryer (for the chips) had been cleaned out so no risk of cross contamination (gluten issue). The food was incredible and the service was just amazing. They put me at ease by addressing the dietary issues immediately, keeping me informed of the adjustments, and just generally being absolutely lovely.

I honestly can’t fault the service, food, or anything here so highly recommend visiting if you can. Book ahead though, they’re busy!

For info, my intolerances are fructan and dairy (FODMAP issue) for anyone out there’s who’s similar.

Thank you Samphire! You made my afternoon with such an amazing meal...

Definitely visit Samphire whilst you are in Inveraray or near by - but you need to book ahead by over a week as they are nearly always full.

This place is definitely worth the hype and the good reviews.

They have a wonderful menu, lots of seafood choices of course, but even some non-fish dishes. I can highly recommend the starters, particularly the chowder, scallop mousse, oysters and scallop specials. I had the pancetta wrapped hake for my main which was incredible, cooked to perfection. Others at our table had the half lobster with langoustine and someone else had the seafood stew. They were all cooked beautifully and they were delicious.

The wine menu isn’t huge but they do have a nice Sancerre which goes nicely with the seafood.

Dessert was the least special of the courses but the sticky toffee pudding was good.

To look at you wouldn’t think it was anything special, but the food was outstanding and the service was fantastic too. Thank you Samphire for the...

Husband and I decided to visit this wee restaurant as our last evening meal of our stay in Inveraray. The food was utterly delicious. I had Cajun squid to start and the hubby had seafood chowder and we both had the muscles as main course. These were the BEST muscles we have ever had. They were huge and cooked exceptionally well. Dessert was equally as delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to taste excellent Scottish seafood. Make sure to book as it is only open a few hours at lunch and at dinner. Overall it was an amazing meal to end my 40th celebration! Thank you. Photos added are of seafood chowder and Cajun Spiced Squid in the background. Muscles in a wine, garlic and herb sauce. My muscles were in a tomato and pancetta sauce (no photo). Pudding was a Whisky Creme Brulee. I had a Dark Chocolate Delice with Blood Orange...

This wee restaurant is a local favourite. The food is great but actually the front of house service is better. It's rare to find such a presence at the sharp end. Always polite, very observant and busy as a bee in a gentle way. The soup btw was incredible (I've never said that about soup before!). My guests enjoyed wonderful loch Leven mussels and delicious langoustines. I had the duck and it was great although personally I'd rather have it cooked pink than medium. It was slightly over for me but the mash and jus was great. Don't miss Samphire if you're in Inverarary but book ahead to avoid disappointment.
