Really Disappointed in this place.
I had spent a full day in Livingston, and I thought before heading home I will head to the beefeater for a Sunday Roast dinner, with my folks who are 87 & 90.
We were greeted with a warm welcome by the manager, and the waitress Katy was so kind.
We decided to order off the festive menu as it had the Sunday roast on it, and you were getting 2 courses for 21.95.
So we thought a nice Sunday Roast with all the trimmings then a nice pudding would go down a treat.
When the meals arrived I could see by just looking at them it didn't look appealing, but due to being hungry we thought we will give it a go.
After a few bites we had to give up.
Apart from the lack of gravy, the brussel sprouts and roast potatoes were like rocks, the carrots also looked like they had fallen out a packet without being cooked. The beef was tough but edible, but everything else on the plate ruined the meal altogether.
I would never usually complain but had to bring this to the attention of the manager. In fairness she said we could order another meal, but to be honest I had a feeling we would probably face the same situation.
At that point we were offered our puddings for free if we would be happy to stay on . Which I agreed to trying to be polite as I felt just like going at the time.
We all thought lets go with apple and blackberry crumble and least something that would warm us up a bit before travelling home.
Again the kind waitress brought our desserts out and was very polite and kindly said that we weren't the only ones who had issued a complaint about the dinner. We thanked her and got ready to tuck into our crumble.
One bite into our dessert and each of us looked up with disappointment again, the crumble was cold and no heat about it at all. In the end we spoke to the manager again and let her know we woud only be paying for the drinks, she was kind of enough to agree.
However I would of rather had been told beforehand, due to issues in the kitchen or being short staffed we can offer you x y or z on the menu .
We ended up ordering a Chinese when we...
Read moreWe visited today, we waited a short time to be seen by anyone, we were told "I'll get someone" by a member of staff we continued to wait, a different staff member then said "I'll go get someone, won't be long" continued to wait then eventually, we were seated and put our drinks order in, we knew we'd go for the ultimate Sunday roast as we have had it in our local beef eater and loved it, unfortunately, this was not the case, after a long wait and what appeared to be our meals sat on the pass for some time getting cold, we were served it, it was easily half the portion of the ultimate Sunday roast we've had at another beef eater, it was barley warm after sitting on the pass for some time which we could see from our seats, alot of it was actually inedible. Our son who has sensitivities to foods due to additional support needs will only have the skin on fries so we asked for a portion of these (again this is what he has at our local beef eater) they served a tiny dish with a small handful of fries which again had sat on the pass for sometime and we're not exactly warm. The waitress didn't once come back to check how our meal was or anything. It's really disappointing that we're £60 down yet still hungry after a meal, we then had to call on another staff member for the bill as we sat with plates and empty glasses for sometime, we didn't dare stay for dessert after the time and disappointment of the meals. We definitely wouldn't recommend this particular beef eater after today, and we'll definitely not be returning to the particular one, we'll stick to...
Read moreBooked a table for 5 adults for their Festive Menu on 23rd December 2023. Despite booking this in November the table wasn’t ready on arrival, and the restaurant being practically empty. On eventually being shown to our table, there were no crackers and nothing festive about it. Menus were dumped on the table and the waitress walked away. The restaurant was not busy and it took our waitress at least 15 minutes to arrive and take our drinks order. I ordered a Shandy for my 16 year old son and was told this was not possible as it was the Managers Discretion…….however there did not appear to be any manager present. My son settled for a Fanta….which was a bottomless juice, however the waitress failed to tell us this at the time and it wasn’t noticed until I checked the bill.
Upon ordering from the 3 course menu we were told that 2 of the starters, the soup and prawn cocktail were not available. The main course was mediocre, the carrots were hard the Brussels sprouts had been cooked to an inch of their life. Upon ordering from the festive menu I was informed that there was no cheese!!! Nothing about the unavailable items was mentioned when the menu was dropped on the table.
A festive menu with 2 starters and 1 dessert not available……if I had been informed of this prior to ordering the drinks we would have dined elsewhere.
The waitress was rude, abrupt and extremely unhelpful from the outset. Needless to see she did not get the tip from my three figure bill. It felt very tacky and not fitting of the price asked.
I will not set foot in...
