Do you like brown mouldy avocado? If so Then this is the place for you. After reading other reviews and seeing images on social media this small food stop held high expectations, only they were crushed to oblivion on arrival after being greeted by 3 of the most miserable people I’ve ever met. They made the brisk cold Scottish rain and cloud feel like a bright summers day, which you could almost take as a plus as our day could only get better from here. After paying what I thought was a rather steep amount for 2 coffees, 2 halloumi and avocado wraps and some fries (£27) I still held some hope that the food would redeem the stale lifeless atmosphere of the highland larder. Well, I was wrong, the screeching milk crying out for help only furthered my fears as to what was to come. A short wait later we were greeted with 2 extremely burnt coffees followed by some very sad looking wraps. We sat in their dark half collapsed outdoor tent seating area, it was bleak with a cosy seaside charm, but overall depressing. Anyway, the food, we took one bite of our wraps, fairly pleasant until I saw the avocado…. My day got worse. Both wraps filled with the greyest, lifeless, tasteless, mouldy avocado I have ever seen. At this point we just threw them straight into the bin and left, I would have argued for a refund but the miserable service told me I wasn’t going to get any better.
A long story short, if you love mouldy avocado or want to have a bad day, go to the highland larder as they serve up vast...
Read moreCame here for the first time to try the food. Arrived around midday, hubby ordered cajun cod burger with fries & I ordered scampi roll with fries. We were charged 30 pound which was more than the board price Food was ready in around 15mins. We were given 2 x scampi, hubby doesn't like scampi so went back to ask what happened & she said she didn't have cajun chicken written down & it would take a long time to do that now & didn'tseem bothered at all to help. Really disappointing as he is not at all keen on scampi. I definitely ordered cajun cod & hubby heard me ask for it. The food was very tasty & the chips were nice but quite cold. Not a good...
Read moreDaylight robbery. Came to try the lobster roll (gf) and fries for £20. As it was expensive I thought it was going to be a gourmet sandwich with plenty of filling and lovely chips. The "sandwich" was the size of my palm with a scrapping of lobster inside and mostly filled with rocket. The chips were cheap and deep fried in old oil. They were greasy and horrible. The guy who served us did not have a good manner either. Save your money or spend it in the village of Dornoch where your business is appreciated and you'll receive a warm welcome. This company is taking advantage of the location and abusing their position by serving expensive but poor...
