I would have loved to have given Milk & Honey all 5 stars. My lunch was beautiful, coffee just perfect and all staff polite, helpful and friendly. The cafe itself looked lovely inside with a warm cosy atmosphere. I had my dog with me (the lovely chef bought her two sausages which she loved) which they don't allow inside (I've no problem with this) so I was shown to seating out the back. I was expecting a pretty courtyard of sorts but instead felt like I was being put out with the ruffians and shown a wonky table and chairs on wonky paving where the staff take breaks and you hear all the chatter of the work crew. (I'm not insinuating the staff are ruffians by any means, they are quite the opposite). The only view was of the back kitchen door and a fence. The prices would have reflected the comfort of inside as all prices should reflect a restaurateurs interior. Given my lack of warm cosy comfort, a wee discount would have been a lovely gesture. Go to Milk & Honey by all means, it's lovely. Just don't go with your dog.

We tried this place for lunch on a Friday in September. We got lucky that there was an open table, within a few mins, there was small queue for tables. The staff were lovely and very friendly (to both those who clearly visit on a very regular basis and those of us who had never been in before). Despite being busy, we didn’t feel rushed and weren’t kept waiting for too long either. I had the most delicious milk/honey/spice/coffee drink, I’ve never had anything like it before but it was soooo good. It was also refreshingly wonderful to actually see a nice selection of veggie and pescatarian dishes on the menu. I had a goats cheese tart which was really light and fluffy and so flavourful finished with one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had, so rich and creamy. Definitely need to head back soon

I have just moved to Scotland and was very excited to find a bookshop in Dornoch and that it had a coffee shop and café next door!! I had the hands down best Oat Milk Mocha I've ever had. I think it was made with real dark chocolate 10/10!!! They also had one vegan cake available which I had. It's polenta which is actually something I'd never have ordered if I had known because something about polenta cake sounds weird 🤣 but it was actually so delicious. I stand fully corrected!! I was 15 mins too late for a breakfast so I am really looking forward to coming back soon to try that!!! The server was super friendly and my order arrived really quicky!!

This was one of our favourite places to go for lunch, cuppa, cake & blether etc until today!!! Popped up today with my son, niece and my Mum who had come up from North Kessock especially. Waited at the door to be greeted by a friendly face as usual but instead after waiting a couple of minutes what we got instead was definitely not that!! We were approached by not a 'Hello' or anything but someone who didn't seem to want us there who just snapped "It's only tea and cake now"... which was fine for us! Then "There's only couches available, is that ok"? Which was also fine. We sat down, no more said to us nor was there a menu offered! 5 mins passed, then someone came over and put a sheet down to scan ourselves in for track and trace, again nothing said, or menu offered! We waited another 5 mins, watched 2 tables of customers leave and their table's cleaned and still we were just left sitting there, completely ignored! By this time we were so fed up that we got up and left! Nobody even took any notice of us leaving until I said to the girl at the till that we weren't going to bother staying after being completely ignored for 15 minutes!!! Previous visits have always been lovely where staff have been very welcoming & friendly, but not the staff on today!! Will definitely not be back again unfortunately. Very...

Disappointing experience. When I placed the order, I told the server that I am lactose intolerant. I ordered Hot Spiced (Soya) Milk & Honey and Porridge with Apple & Cinnamon Compote. When the porridge came, I asked the server if the porridge is made with milk, to which she said yes. I told her that I can't have dairy milk and needed to change it. Minutes later the server returned and said there was no apple & cinnamon compote anymore. I was disappointed and cancelled the order, but she said "we already cooked the porridge". I was just surprised. She should have notified me before preparing something when they did not have full ingredients as specified in the menu. I did not want to make a scene and agreed to soya porridge with scottish honey as a replacement. When the porridge arrived, it came with very little drizzle of honey. I can't believe it. Meantime, there was a local gentleman who sat next to our table and heard the whole conversation and said it is not right for the kitchen to cook something that they don't have before notifying me. Then I made a second mistake by purchasing 2 glass jars of local honey for which they did not have proper padding to protect the glass jar as I...
