The area surrounding this pub/ restaurant is very nostalgic for me. Richmond park was my adolescent years stamping ground. My personal "Summer of 42 "awakening. It was a beautiful park in the 1960's. Sadly only the bird sanctuary pond remains. The bulk being sold off to land and housing developers.Facing the pond at Jenny's Burn sits the pub of the same name.It is a Marston's chain pub.Warm cosy, interior and typical pub classics menu .They do nightly deals.Thursday is Sirloin Steak night with all the trimmings and a drink for around £13.It was all perfectly good.We had Deep fried Cauliflower in batter, then our steaks, followed by strawberry jam sponge pudding and custard and sticky toffee pudding with custard. We washed it all down with flat white coffees and relaxed after our twin circle walk around the pond.Luke our waiter was a joy, so friendly and helpful. He even put a birthday candle on my friends pudding.Thank You so much Luke. The pub and the pond is a hidden gem of an area right next to Shawfield Stadium.Give it a visit. You won't be disappointed .😊

We availed ourselves of the Thursday offer of 2 main courses and a bottle of wine for £23. The red wine was a Hardys shiraz and was very palatable. I had the mixed grill whereas my companion had the sirloin steak. Two others in our party had burgers with all the trimmings. The food was delicious. For dessert we shared the ice cream sundae among 3 of us. It was more than enough for us, very rich and tasty. One of our party had the sticky toffee pudding and custard which was "very tasty". We had booked for inside but as it was such a nice day(unusual for Scotland) we asked to be seated outside. A nice convivial evening watching the world go by outside. Thanks goes to Angela for her friendly attentive manner.

Attended The Jenny Burn on Sunday 11th August and my wife and I were looking forward to a Sunday breakfast together. We were given a warm and friendly welcome by Anita who was also our waitress and took our order while chatting away with us, asking how we were etc. This is a very important asset for any establishment to have, as it is always nice to be made welcome and to feel that you matter as a customer. Our breakfast was really nice and good value for money, although one wee tiny gripe, my metal tea pot was a bit of a dripper. Well Done Anita and all staff at The Jenny Burn, we will be back.

Look at my reviews - I don’t write bad reviews… but good lord this was bad.

Drinks - I had a double vodka and coke (pepsi) in a tiny glass, so I’d have thought it would taste strong… but it tasted like watery coke. I’ve never suspected a place of watering down their booze before… (Drinks fairly expensive too)

Food - long wait once ordered, it transpired that it’s because they’re massively overcooking the food. I had a mixed grill and only the chips and the fried egg on top was cooked right. I’d say whoever was cooking last night has no business being in a kitchen. Peas overdone, mushrooms so overdone they’d shrivelled away, onion rings so hard it’s like they were cooked yesterday, and the day before. Steak was supposed to be medium, but was beyond well. Also had an oily taste like it hadn’t been grilled but deep fried. Sausages, gammon overcooked. Chicken - anaemic looking in a way that made me think it would be undercooked, but actually it was just as dry as the rest of the food. Were it not for how runny the egg yolk was I’d have suspected my food sat under a heat lamp for half an hour after cooking. However before I move on from the food - there are 2 menus, 1 for like pub classics and 1 for pizzas and the pizza guy is out in the restaurant cooking - we ordered dough balls to come as a side to our meal and they were brilliant. Honestly I’d consider going back and just ordering from the pizza menu.

Service - I think they were understaffed on this night there was only 4 front of house staff on and the place is actually very big, so though it felt really dead, they must’ve been rushed off their feet because there was never anyone at the bar when I went to order. They were all l nice though - one girl who must have just started working there was particularly nice. There was one woman out of the 4 who I suspect was managerial because I never saw her go near a customer - just the other 3 running themselves ragged. Because there was nobody at the bar when I went to order food and drinks initially, I ordered drinks on the app. After over 15 minutes the drinks hadn’t arrived I went inside and waited at the bar, the managerial type woman sent the new girl onto the bar when she noticed the queue forming, but again didn’t actually serve. Once it was my turn I was able to show her the app order I was looking for and she went over to the printer to get my order and it was in a stream of at least another 8 app orders that had been missed while the 3 staff who were actually doing anything tried their best. Anyway I got just a Pepsi max this time and it was deeply flavoursome, furthering my initial concerns about the strength of their vodka.

They let dogs in which is great! The doughballs were also great. Loads of parking - charging ports too. Right off...

Was here yesterday, First time visiting and I won’t be back. Firstly when I arrived I explained we had booked online and the member of staff didn’t even check the computer or the method you use to write booking down on just said ok well this is the area you will be sitting in which was the dog friendly area even though we didn’t have a pet with us. We weren’t told it was table service so we went to the bar area to order to be told by a member of staff we come to the table so can you go back and sit down the way the staff member spoke I don’t think was acceptable no manners atall. The member of staff came over to take our order and I wanted macaroni cheese which was fine but then to be told there is no garlic bread to go with it so we could give you chips instead which was fine, until I received the bill at the end to notice I was charge a extra 1.50 or 1.75 for them which I shouldn’t of been charge due to your kitchen not having garlic bread. My partner then asked for the mixed grill which is all we really came for as he was really looking forward too it to again be told there is no mix grill. So this was a huge disappointment to begin with and also off putting why didn’t we get told when we sat down there is some stuff not available instead of waiting until we had ordered drinks. My partner also ordered the wings and ribs as a starter which should never of been served to anyone the way they presented these, the ribs basically had no meat on them just the bone of the ribs and if there was anything it was a bit of meat which was burnt and also rock solid which would of probably broken a tooth, this is not acceptable when your paying for something you expect it to be to a certain standard. We explained to the staff member when she came to take the plate and she said I shall pass it on to the kitchen staff she didn’t then come back and let us know what they said or what they suggested on doing. Another issue was charging 3.75 for draft Pepsi Max if a knew that was the price I would of ordered a alcoholic drink which probably would of been cheaper shocking price to charge anyone for a soft drink. I was also there with my daughter and was not offered a kids menu shouldn’t take us visiting your restaurant to ask for a menu for children this should be given to us on arrival. Overall the experience we had was disappointing which is why we would not return the quality of food wasn’t great and the manners of your staff was awful also getting spoke to like your at school because you approached the bar to ordered food. In my opinion I don’t feel we received a good standard of customer care and to be charged for chips which should of been free of charge and to be still charge for a starter which we complained about...

I just had to let you know about the absolutely phenomenal service we received from Luke. We have a wee boy with autism, and going out can be really stressful for him — and for us as parents — because he gets easily overwhelmed by noise, choices, and new places. But from the moment we walked in, Luke showed such incredible patience, kindness, and understanding.

When our son started to feel overwhelmed trying to choose his food, Luke didn’t rush him or get frustrated. He crouched down so he could speak to him at his level, quietly reassuring him, and helped him pick exactly what he wanted. It might seem like a small thing to some people, but it meant everything to us — to see someone take the time to really care about our wee boy and make him feel safe and comfortable.

Luke even went out of his way to add extra things to his burger just to make it perfect for him, which helped so much to calm him down and prevent a meltdown. Throughout our whole visit, Luke kept checking in to make sure we were okay, never once making us feel like we were a bother. His kindness and genuine warmth turned what could have been a very difficult outing into a truly positive and special experience for our family.

We honestly can’t thank Luke enough. He made us feel seen, supported, and cared for in a way we’ll never forget. He is a credit to your team and an absolute gem of a person.

Thank you so much for having someone like him looking after...
