We have been visiting family this week. My aunty suggested we visit this restaurant as she has been before and highly recommend it.
We booked a table for 17.30 and we're seated quickly and put our order in within 5 mins of arrival.
After 30 mins the waiter came to our table and said our food had been put on hold, and would we like it now? Already annoyed at waiting 30 mins, we then had to wait another 30. Why it was put on hold, I have no idea!
Some of the food came out, but we had to wait another 20 mins for one of the meals. My partner, who's meal was delayed was so hungry that he cancelled it and decided to go to the carvery to save time.
The man seving the carvery was so slow! The queue was really, really long and he was having conversations with each person. The whole queue was complaining. In the end he gave up and left to go to KFC. He finished his KFC and returned before my aunty even made it to the front if the carvery line!
My pie came and I would have needed a hammer and chisel to get through it. I can only guess that it had been on the hot plate for an extremely long time. I was offered a new one, which I refused as I didn't want to eat alone.
My aunty ended up humiliated and in tears. All the manager did was apologise, no offer of a refund except for my pie. We were already miffed because we didn't get blue light discount as it was a bank Holiday (not a Scottish one). We got offered free desserts, but by then we just wanted to leave.
The rest of our party went home as my aunty started her carvery because it took that long to receive it!
All in all, the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Will definitely never be returning and will be avoiding these chains from now on, in favour of fish and chips and a park bench.
You pay for the experience, and this...

Lucy who served me twice was absolutely lovely, a really approachable person who made sure their guests were taken care of, even offering to assist in carrying over drinks to our table when they were really busy! They had a really friendly attitude to everyone in line before me, and nothing was too much of a bother.
All three of us had the carvery. The meat was tender and very well cooked, and the potatoes and parsnips were very tasty. The only issue we had was paying extra for a Yorkshire pudding, only for them to have a crispy outside, but were full of air in the middle. Those at our table who paid extra also never received the option of the pigs in blankets. There wasn't really much anyone could do but the additional £2 gave the impression the puddings would be light and fluffy on the inside, and the paid for sides would be offered. The only other issue we had were the vegetables/sides being slightly undercooked so we're a bit difficult to cut through. The desserts we ordered (cake and ice cream, sticky toffee pudding) were also nice and a great way to finish the meal.
Overall the restaurant was great; in terms of accessibility there are ramps to some seating areas near the doors which are useful if anyone requires walking aids or a wheelchair, and the bathrooms were clean with plenty of toilet paper and soap. Some of the carvery sides could use some improvement, but the staff were attentive, kind, patient, and extremely welcoming. Will absolutely be...

We arrived at 5.45 ordered drinks at 6 never arrived till 6.50! There was a large group of us who pre booked our meals etc but still all came out at different times and some were missing. Nobody came over to remove the plates of our starters so we had to remove these ourself to another table to be able to have room for our mains. No one came over to offer assistance or ask if the meals were ok. We also had a vegetarian whose pie was left right beside the carvery! We also had another vegetarian who didn’t receive their pie until the table all finished their meal and we were leaving so they had to take the pie home!!!!!!! Ridiculous Also had to ask for our puddings to come out. Staff also knocked over juice. Overall food was rubbish pies were hard, meat wasn’t great, pigs in blankets undercooked. Staff at the bar were rude when one of us went to collect the drinks because it was taking that long to come. So they think it’s acceptable to make a cheeky comment and yes we heard it!!!
When we also have to que for the carvery and have to wait ages is also A no from me!!!!
No one really knew what they were doing, if these issues didn’t happen there wouldn’t be any complaints but as we booked a family Christmas meal we would expect to eat our meals together
In the end we did get money off our bill but did have to ask for this as the overall experience was a 0. Do...
