YOU MUST GO HERE! Absolute hidden little gem. I had the California burger, a sweet tea with lemonade and a sour cherry and pistachio cake. My wife had the soup of the day and a reuben. Oh my days the burger was one of the best I've ever had and the cake was also heavenly! My wife's food was also amazing, we tried each others of course. The waitress and owner/chefs are unique characters and absolutely lovely to talk to. The whole place has a homely and warm feel and the food was incredible with absolutely fair prices. I wish we were staying longer in the area as this place would be our go-to restaurant 10000%, please keep up the amazing standard you set for food and hospitality!

Had another brilliant visit to Local Hero Café and it was every bit as good as the first time! I went for the avocado toast topped with sriracha mayo, bacon and a fried egg – absolute perfection. I couldn’t resist finishing with the vegan brownie, which was rich, indulgent and honestly to die for. On my first visit I tried the Dorito Burrito (sadly not on the menu anymore), but the lovely owner let me know I can still ask for it specially next time – such a nice touch. Between the warm, welcoming staff and the cosy atmosphere, this wee place has quickly become a favourite of mine. Already looking forward to my next visit!

My 5 year old and I popped in for lunch and boy am I glad we did. We ordered the halloumi Fry's, animal Fry's and the special for the day, a teriyaki burger. All was delicious and I struggled to make a choice off the wide range of food offered. The food was delicious, can't fault it at all and big portions. We also really enjoyed the playlist, and shazamed a few tracks I didn't recognize. The only constructive criticism I could possibly give was that there's no childrens menu or options for colouring in for kids BUT perhaps it's just not that kinda place, I don't know, but I do know we will definitely be back.

Went to our hero cafe yesterday and it was nice and clean tidy and welcoming it was amazing, it was cosy, welcoming and pleasant the staff were wonderful they couldn't do enough for us, even though we arrived as they were supposed to be shutting the shop for the day. Tha food we were offered was amazing, as I have lots of food intolerances and I am used to having very little choice and pretty basic food, on this occasion. I was offered a nut chocolate browney, when it arrived it was a huge slab of the kind of chocolate cake you dream of for the rest of your life, lush, dark rich and absolutely wonderfully heavy with chocolate and heavenly...... This cafe up the hill from the main shopping area is somewhere not to be missed. To me it's one of the seven wonders of the world. Thank you for a wonderful treat. We hope to see you all again...

What a breath of fresh air (And very fresh food). After trying to find an alternative eatery for our regular visits to Dunoon following the closure of Shiela's Diner. We have found that Local Hero Cafe has what other eateries that we have tried in Dunoon do not. Excellent, relaxed and professional Customer service. Fantastic flavours from food that has been derived from the recipes of professional Chefs, which is evident from the first taste. Great value for money and a personal, friendly approach in the USA style that welcomes and works to serve everyone who walks through the door, with relaxed care and personal attention . These standards must be difficult to teach, but come across very naturally from owner Mark and his staff. Older premises, but a good work in progress as this unique business builds. Our new favourite place to...
