As much as I understand and am tolerant of necessary Covid-related changes and the teething problems they bring, my experience today was inexcusably poor. I was told to use the app to order as I was sitting in. Downloading and setting up said app took an age, and once I'd managed that, I was greeted with potentially the least user-friendly interface I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I eventually managed to get my order through, and proceeded to watch people who came in long after me get served with no sign of my food. After a solid half hour of waiting, I went up to the desk to chase it up, and was told that they had no sign of the order in the system. The only explanation that the manager (?) could offer was that I hadn't gone up to the desk in the first place - but if I'm ordering off the app, why would I go up to the desk? Surely that defeats the purpose. I didn't argue any more, as I felt as if we'd just go round in circles, but I'm still rather miffed, as this situation could very easily have been avoided had staff been more consistent. Why was I told to use the app when others were permitted to use the kiosks? Why, when staff reiterated to myself and other customers not to approach the desk, do I need to do exactly that to confirm whether or not my order has been received (evidently the supposed confirmation on the app itself was erroneous)? I realise things have changed, but it's up to staff to inform customers of that and make their experience as trouble-free as possible given the circumstances. The staff here definitely failed in that role today, as I was left p*ssed off and hungry on account of nobody taking a minute to explain to me how the app worked, and how best to order my food...
