Whilst visiting relatives in Dunphail we had the opportunity to go out for the day, child free, and we were just looking around and my wife found the Mosset Tavern on line, she booked us a table. Well we were not disappointed from the time we walked in, to the time we left, we were greeted immediately with a big smile from the owner and shown our table, and the service was instant, friendly and very professional. We ordered the Korean chicken strips and nachos with haggis for starters, wow wow wow, they were amazing, for our mains I was going to have sirloin, but the lure of the chefs special cub sandwich was to much, my wife had the Kajun creamy chicken, again we weren't disappointed the flavours and the care taken when cooking the food was apparent, so a big thank you to the chef for the amazing food, to be honest we could have ordered anything from the menu and it would have been the same reaction. The food at the Mosset Tavern is some of the best we have eaten out, ever, we will most definitely be coming back when is Scotland next, so a big thank you to all the staff for making our...
Read moreAfter taking the dogs for an epic roam around Culbin woods an appetite had been worked up and we stopped in to the Mosset Tavern for some food. The restaurant was busy so we ended up sitting in the bar which was fine but a bit noisy due to the football being shown. The service was ok, but nothing special.
I ordered the sea bass and my partner had a vegetarian burrito. Both dishes looked the part and were good conceptually but failed to hit the mark due to being completely underseasoned and therefore were a bit bland, which was a shame as otherwise (barring the skin on the fish not being crispy - a cardinal sin!) it was nicely cooked food. Maybe the chef had an off day?
The couple next to us had some sort of smoky chicken dish which smelled amazing and left me with severe food envy but them's the breaks.
It was ok, certainly better than your average pub, and it's in a lovely location nestled next to the river.
I'd probably give it another go in the future but to be honest it felt like a bit of a let down due to the execution...
Read moreWent here on a whim whilst out and about and wanted some dinner. Staff are pleasant and friendly. It got busy quickly there and seemed popular, so booking might be needed to guarantee a spot. The menu was varied with many dishes themed around the name Mosset. When we went there was a burger and a drink deal for around £15 or so. We had a bottle of wine, which was nice but a little pricey at around £25. I had a burger from the main menu and this was nice. The patty itself was the highlight for me which was clearly homemade and/or butcher fresh. My wife had the Mosset version of Balmoral Chicken which she enjoyed. Overall it was a good meal but for me slightly over priced for the market. 3 courses and a drink is likely to around £50 a head. Only real criticism was that I got the bill and they didn't come back to get payment. 3 members of staff where stood chatting and in the end I had to get up and go to...
