Great food, great staff and great restaurant!

Despite being told the restaurant was fully booked we were able to sit upstairs in the bar area where seats are not reserved. This led to us sitting on a roofed balcony area with a nice view of the harbour.

We were able to order food quickly from a great selection and the helpful staff answered any questions we had about the food. Since we were sitting near to the bar drinks service was great with waiters regularly checking in the table.

The service was quick and our starters arrived after only around 10 minutes if ordering. They were Great! The bruscheta was delicious and were the prawns apparently! Also the "Quattro formaggi" was excellent, a cheesy dip with toasted bread.

Soon we were given our mains which were equally fantastic. Also the large portions weren't a problem as they offered a box to take the food home. We didn't have dessert as we were too full!

Overall this is a fantastic restaurant and it reigns supreme over it's near by competitors. I would definitely recommend...

Very mixed evening tbh. Don't order the pepperoncino peppers or the crustini antipasti unless you like pickled chilli's and pan bread.... shocking tbh. My main was really nice but Strange presentation. Lemon risotto with an entire baked lemon sat in the middle... Husband had the seafood pasta... red snapper was like rubber. Ice-cream was amazing. My son ate earlier from the pizza shop attached, a earlier review said how great the chips were.... not tonight Hard, mostly small, so much salt it wasn't funny... it poured our of the paper all over the table.... ridiculous. This left him hungry so I had to cook for him after he ate the pizza (which he enjoyed). Staff were really pleasant but to be honest the girls were very noisy... loud voiced which was intrusive. The bread basket I found the worst aspect of all..no one expects a slice of bread from a pan loaf... it is insulting to your guests.

However I would go again... just needs a little bit...

We had originally intended to dine here on the night if Tues 7th Spet, however when we arrived around 18:30 but we were told there was no availability, nor was there any offer of waiting for a table at that time. We then returned later that evening to ask if we could reserve a table for Thurs 9th, but we were advised that there was a 1st come 1st served policy & if we wanted to dine, then we were to come back after 7pm. We then chanced a return visit on Thurs 9th after 7pm as previously advised, but we were greeted & again asked if we had booked a table. When we advised that we did not this time, we were offered a choice of tables for seating. During our visit on the 9th we did manage a lovely meal & the servers we had from point of entry, through service, until exiting your establishment were very friendly & helpful with the food...

We love going to Oblos and have done for many years but so disappointed this visit I have to say that was the worst seafood pasta ever A piece of haddock over the top of bland tomato sauce and overcooked prawns and pasta Which were described as king prawns no way were they king prawns Where were the mussels etc and the flavour in the sauce The Ship does a seafood pasta and it is so much nicer then Oblos for near on same price Lemon and thyme chicken ordered but couldn’t taste lemon or thyme but the chicken was nice When they asked if the food was ok they were not happy that we said it was only ok and no further opinions were asked for Staff did not seem to know how to handle honest feed back about the food even though they asked for an opinion Sorry to say not the best food today

Absolutely cannot fault the food from here. No matter when I go it’s always so fresh and tasty and wonderfully presented. I absolutely recommend the Pizza Mama Oblo (haggis and black pudding), which is probably my favourite thing from the restaurant. It’s cooked in a stone baked oven for that authentic base. Any seafood dish is also amazing as they get their fish fresh from a local source, being next to the harbour, so it’s as fresh as you can get it. My recommendation would be the seafood pasta which has a variety of chef’s choice of seafood on the day. I had bream, with the skin cooked perfectly, crayfish tails and giant prawns. They also have a nice selection of cocktails and mocktails!
